The United Kingdom is a dangerous place to be pro-life.
A story that came to light last week concerns an American teacher in Scotland who was fired from her job because when asked her views on abortion, she told the truth: As a Catholic,she said, she opposes it.
That same day, last November in Angus – known as “Scotland’s birthplace” – Sarah Morse found herself unemployed.
Answering a question about abortion goes way beyond whether you’re a Catholic or not, or a Christian or not. It comes down to whether you’re a human being or not. It’s the killing of a baby, period. Abortion is not wrong because the Church says it’s wrong. Rather, the Church says it’s wrong because of what it is.
And Morse is not the first teacher sacked in the UK for being pro-life. In 2015, a teacher in Wales was let go after telling students he believes life begins at conception, and that marriage is between a man and a woman.
These two examples – separated by 10 years – perfectly sum up the state of the fight to end abortion. The other side is absolutely devoid of cogent arguments to support its barbaric position. So they just work to silence those of us who expose the truth.
Morse’s story came out just after the Religious Liberty Commission, formed by President Trump in the UK’s former colony, presented its recommendations to the president, reinforcing the principle that Americans should never be forced to choose between following their faith or following the law.
One of the commission’s recommendations is to create “know your rights” materials for both teachers and students (as well as religious leaders and institutions, healthcare workers, and military service members) so that they can stand firm when their religious liberty is challenged. Greater understanding of these protections can help people confidently and respectfully live out their beliefs in schools, workplaces, and public institutions.
Another recommendation is that public officials who do try to suppress religious liberty provide, within 30 days, a written explanation that identifies the specific constitutional or legal basis for the allegation they are making.
These recommendations arose as a response to what commission members and the public heard in testimony over the past year from, among others, American teachers who spoke about being punished and losing their jobs for professing their faith and prolife convictions in the classroom.
Now in the case of Sarah Morse, she was facing government guidelines in the UK that say teachers must present “balance” and “impartiality” when instructing their students. But would anyone even attempt to apply that guideline across the board?
Morse was teaching a class about the rise of Adolf Hitler. Was there supposed to be “impartiality” about what he did, or a “balance” between anti-Hitler and pro-Hitler views?
Or if instructing a class about the sex-trafficking crisis, would a teacher be obliged to say not everyone believes it’s such a bad thing?
Of course not, in either case. But when the subject is abortion, the fact that it’s the taking of an innocent human life has to be offset by the opposing belief that it’s a woman’s right to choose murder.
This is what happened in Morse’s classroom, according to her: On Nov. 19, 2025, while teaching at Abroath High School, she gave her 14 and 15-year-old students a worksheet on the rise of Adolf Hitler. But before they got down to work, they asked the 66-year-old from Georgia about life in the United States.
When queried about her opinion on abortion, she said, “I am a faithful Roman Catholic and I am against it.” Asked about a hypothetical pregnancy caused by rape, she said she would not punish the child but she said it was OK not to agree with her.
In retrospect, she told the British media, it seemed that maybe her students were setting her up for exactly what came next: She was fired.
“I was not offered any sort of right of reply, asked for my account of what happened or how my legally protected beliefs were raised in the context of a history class and the head teacher wouldn’t even see me,” she told the Sunday Times.
This is typical for the pro-abortion radical Left. Don’t allow the accused to defend themselves; throw due process out the window.
Apparently, she was also asked about President Trump but it’s not clear if she answered the question or what she might have said. But no matter what she might feel about our president, this Trump supporter has some advice for her: Come home. The tide is turning.
