Trump Touts Over 53,000 New Jobs in North Carolina in 2nd Term

President Donald Trump touted strong economic numbers, including new jobs and over 150,000 lifted off of food stamps, while delivering remarks in Rocky Mount, North Carolina, en route to Mar-a-Lago for Christmas.

The president highlighted job creation in the Tar Heel state since returning to White House 11 months ago Saturday.

“We’re here tonight to celebrate 11 incredible months. It’s been the most successful first year of any president in the history of our country,” he said. “Isn’t that a big statement? But it’s a statement that you read all over the place.”

“Since my inauguration, we’ve created more than 53,000 North Carolina jobs, including 8,000 North Carolina construction jobs. More than 150,000 North Carolina residents have been lifted off of food stamps,” he added. “They’re very happy about that.”

Trump then bashed the Biden administration’s response to Hurricane Helene in 2024, saying those affected had to wait until January 2025, once he took office, for sincere help.

“After your horrible hurricane, which produced more water damage than any hurricane in history, the Democrats let you down. They really did… They wouldn’t do anything. You remember? They wouldn’t go to your community. They wouldn’t do anything,” he said.

“You had to wait till January 20, when I took office, that we really knocked the hell out of it…I got in on January 20, and first thing I did was made North Carolina phone calls, and we did a hell of a job,” he added.

This is the second week in a row that Trump made a stop in a battleground state as the midterm elections approach. He stopped in Mount Pocono, Pennsylvania, on December 9, where he highlighted economic achievement in the Keystone State.

He noted that his administration has created 60,000 jobs in Pennsylvania since the inauguration, 4,000 of which are manufacturing positions. He also highlighted the $92 billion in investment he has secured for the state and that 40,000 Pennsylvanians have been lifted off of food stamps.
