The UFC was at State Farm Arena in Atlanta, Georgia, for tonight’s UFC Atlanta fight card. The June 14 UFC Fight Night event featured a main event fight between former UFC welterweight champion Kamaru Usman and the surging Joaquin Buckley. In the UFC Atlanta co-main event, former UFC strawweight champion Rose Namajunas met the rising Miranda Maverick in a flyweight contest. The UFC Atlanta results, winners and losers and more were updated live throughout tonight’s UFC Fight Night card.

The main card of UFC Atlanta aired on ESPN at 10 p.m. ET, following streaming prelims on ESPN+, which begin at 7 p.m. ET.

UFC Atlanta Results – Winners

Kamaru Usman: Former UFC welterweight champion Kamaru Usman ended a three-fight losing skid on Saturday night in the main event of the UFC Atlanta card, cruising to an upset decision win over the younger and favored Joaquin Buckley. The win was Usman’s first victory since his final defense of the UFC 170-pound crown in November 2021.

Usman’s route to victory was to avoid Buckley’s heavy hands, score takedowns, and rack up ground control with his heavy top game. Usman picked up one takedown in each of the first four rounds, which was all he needed. Once he had Buckley on his back, Usman kept him on the mat for the rest of the round, picking up 12:26 of control time over the first 20 minutes of the fight. Usman did not get a takedown in the fifth stanza, but he did not need it, as he was ahead on all three scorecards heading into the fifth.

It will be interesting to see how the UFC books the 38-year-old Usman after his dominant performance on Saturday night.

Rose Namajunas: Rose Namajunas fought a smart three-round battle against Miranda Maverick in Atlanta. Her striking was on point, and her top game was hard for Maverick to deal with. The win won’t answer questions about Namajunas’s ability to compete with the top women in the 125-pound division, but she’ll at least hold on to her No. 7 ranking in the division.

Edmen Shahbazyan: Patience, takedown defense, and an effective jab were the keys to Edmen Shahbazyan getting a win over Andre Petroski in Atlanta. Shahbazyan had a patient approach in this middleweight matchup, never putting himself in danger and never allowing Petroski, who relies on his wrestling, to hold him on the mat. With the win, Shahbazyan is 2-0 in 2025.

Raoni Barcelos: The 38-year-old Raoni Barcelos finds himself on a three-fight winning streak following his decision win over former UFC champ Cody Garbrandt in Atlanta. Barcelos weathered the early attack of Garbrandt’s strikes. He then used a balanced attack of striking and wrestling to take over the fight, capitalizing on Garbrandt’s tendency to overextend his strikes as his cardio began to fail. After the win, Barcelos called out Rob Font.

Mansur Abdul-Malik: Mansur Abdul-Malik and Cody Brundage had a rather pedestrian first 10 minutes of their middleweight bout, but things heated up to start the third round with Abdul-Malik charging across the cage to land a punch that stunned Brundage. From there, the two threw caution to the wind and engaged in a slugfest that Abdul-Malik got the best of.

It should be noted that while Abdul-Malik’s strikes hurt Brundage, there was a clash of heads during the finishing exchange that left Brundage covering up to strikes that led to the finish. Because the head butt ended the fight, the accidental clash of heads led to the fight being a technical decision, with the judges scoring the brief third round to the point where the clash took place.

Malcolm Wellmaker: Malcolm Wellmaker has fought twice in the UFC, and he has not gone past the 2:37 mark of the first round, scoring two first-round knockouts.
Wellmaker asked to fight in his home state of Georgia following his UFC debut, an April KO of Cameron Saaiman. The UFC gave him that bout, booking him against an overmatched Kris Moutinho.

Wellmaker was the -1650 favorite when the cage door locked in Atlanta, and he showed why the line was that steep, using his kicks to set up the punch that crumbled Moutinho to the mat.

After the win, Wellmaker showed a lot of charisma and personality on the mic.

Wellmaker is early in his career, and he’s yet to be tested inside the Octagon, but he looks like a star in the making if he can continue on his current trajectory.

Jose Ochoa: Jose Ochoa had a clear advantage in the striking against Cody Durden, and he used that advantage well, landing with power while unloading combinations. He used that striking and aggression to open the second stanza, hurting Durden with a left in the opening seconds that staggered his opponent to the fence, where he finished the fight with another left to the chin of his compromised opponent.

If the 24-year-old Ochoa is given time and space to work his striking, he will be a dangerous flyweight.

Phil Rowe: Phil Rowe did well against Ange Loosa when he used his height and reach to control where the welterweight scrap took place. The problem for Rowe was that he had lapses where Loosa’s wrestling and power hurt him. However, Rowe pulled out the win on Saturday, coming from behind to use his striking and cardio to put away a winded and broken Loosa. The win ended a two-fight losing skid for Rowe.

Jamey-Lyn Horth: Jamey-Lyn Horth has alternated wins and losses in her five UFC fights. Her dominant win over Vanessa Demopoulos on Saturday moved her promotional record to 3-2.

Horth looked excellent in the striking department against her overmatched opponent. She used her height and reach advantages well against Demopoulos, keeping the fight at distance for the majority of the bout while overwhelming Demopoulos with her mixed striking skills.

UFC Atlanta Results – Losers

Joaquin Buckley: Joaquin Buckley’s run of six straight wins in the UFC’s welterweight division resoundingly ended on Saturday night. The surging 31-year-old was the betting favorite over former UFC champ Kamaru Usman heading into the UFC Atlanta fight card, but Usman shut down Buckley’s striking, dominating the fight via takedowns and ground control.

Buckley entered Saturday’s fight card with a 73 percent takedown defense, but he gave up four takedowns on seven attempts in the first four rounds while surrendering more than 12 minutes of control time. Simply put, once Usman put Buckley on the mat, Buckley could not get up. That leads one to wonder if Buckley and his team overrated his striking and failed to focus on Usman’s strengths leading into the fight. Questions about Buckley should also bring up the fact that they told him he was doing well after the second round, and he clearly wasn’t, as he was bleeding and had spent 7:33 of the 10 minutes on his back, unable to deal with the top game of his opponent.

Buckley is only 31 and has time to recover from this loss, but he might need to change up his camp or game plan, as Usman has set the blueprint for how to deal with Buckley’s strengths.

Miranda Maverick: Miranda Maverick had some moments against Rose Namajunas, but they were fleeting. She did not have the striking or ground defense to deal with the well-rounded game of the former strawweight champ.

Andre Petroski: Unable to establish his wrestling against Edmen Shahbazyan, Andre Petroski had no backup plan, and that cost him the fight. With the decision loss, Petroski’s three-fight winning streak ended on Saturday night.

Cody Garbrandt: Cody Garbrandt was aggressive in the opening moments of his bantamweight bout against Raoni Barcelos. However, that aggression faded almost as fast as it started, which allowed Barcelos to use his striking and then his wrestling to pull ahead in the final 10 minutes. The loss dropped Garbrandt to 3-7 after he opened his MMA career with an 11-0 record.

Officials: The referee(s) that ruled the Paul Craig vs. Rodolfo Bellato fight a NC because of accidental foul and not a DQ made a mistake.

Kris Moutinho: The UFC did Kris Moutinho no favors in booking his promotional return. Moutinho, who went 0-2 with the UFC in 2021.22, earned a second shot in the UFC with a five-fight winning streak outside the promotion. He entered his UFC Atlanta matchup against Malcolm Wellmaker as a massive underdog (some bookmakers had him at +1000 or worse). Wellmaker, clearly the better striker, knocked out Moutinho with ease a little more than halfway through the first round.

Ange Loosa: Ange Loosa used his wrestling and power strikes to take away the massive height and reach advantage Phil Rowe had in their welterweight scrap. However, he could not keep up the pace, and when his cardio failed, Rowe was there with an onslaught of strikes to end the fight in the third round.

Vanessa Demopoulos: Vanessa Demopoulos stepped in on short notice to face Jamey-Lyn Horth. Demopoulos was riding a two-fight losing skid heading in UFC Atlanta. She was also competing at 125 pounds for the first time as a UFC fighter since her promotional debut, which she lost, in 2021. How did it go for Demopoulos? Well, UFC commentator Dominick Cruz was talking about her toughness by the mid-point of the second round, and if you follow MMA, you know that’s a sign that a fighter is losing and losing badly

Kamaru Usman (20-4) , the former UFC welterweight champion, enters UFC Atlanta on a three-fight losing skid. The 38-year-old last fought in October 2023, when he dropped a split decision to Khamzat Chimaev in a middleweight matchup.

Usman lost his 170-pound crown to Edwards via a head-kick knockout at UFC 278 in August 2022. He dropped the rematch at UFC 286 in March of 2023 via a majority decision. Before his loss, Usman had defended the title five times.

Usman is the No. 5 ranked fighter in the UFC’s welterweight weight class. He has a career record of 20-3.

Joaquin Buckley (21-6) is the No. 7 fighter in the UFC’s 170-pound weight class. The 31-year-old Buckley is one quite a run since dropping to welterweight in 2023.

Buckley is 6-0 during his current welterweight run with four knockouts and two decision wins. He fought four times in 2024, picking up a knockout win over Vicente Luque, a decision victory over Nursulton Ruziboev, a knockout over two-time UFC title challenger Stephen Thompson. Buckley finished the year with a doctor stoppage TKO win over former interim UFC welterweight champion Colby Covington in December.

UFC Atanta Co-Main Event Preview: Rose Namajunas Vs. Miranda Maverick

Rose Namajunas (13-7) was 2-1 and had under two years of professional MMA experience when she fought Carla Esparza for the UFC women’s strawweight title on the season finale of The Ultimate Fighter Season 20. Esparza won that December 2014 bout by submission, claiming the inaugural 115-pound title.

Over the next few years, Namajunas was essentially learning on the job, and she learned well, running up a record of 4-1 between October 2015 and April 2017.

In November 2017, Namajunas stepped into the Octagon to face then-UFC strawweight titleholder Joanna Jedrzejczyk. The champ was a -700 favorite on fight night, while the challenger checked in at +500. Namajunas stunned the MMA world that night, scoring an upset first-round knockout win to become the champ. Proving her victory was not a fluke, Namajunas defeated Jedrzejczyk by decision in their rematch in April 2018.

Namajunas lost the title in her second attempted defense when Jessica Andrade scored a slam knockout win at UFC 237. A non-title fight victory over Andrade, who dropped the belt in August 2019 to Zhang Weili, followed. That win earned Namajunas another shot at the title.

In April 2021, Namajunas regained the belt with a perfectly timed head kick to stop Weili in the first round. She defeated the former champ by decision in their rematch in November 2021. Namajunas surrendered the title to Esparza in May 2022 in a tepid performance.

Since losing the title, Namajunas is 2-2 at 125 pounds, losing a decision to Manon Fiorot in September 2023, defeating Amanda Ribas by decision in March 2024 and beating Tracy Cortez by decision in July 2024. In her most recent outing, Namajunas dropped a decision to Erin Blanchfield in November.

Namajunas is the No. 7 ranked UFC women’s flyweight fighter.

Miranda Maverick (15-5) joined the UFC in 2020 after spending most of her time with Invicta FC. At the time, she was 7-2 and coming off a “Performance of the Night” bonus-winning decision win over Pearl Gonzalez.

Maverick opened her UFC career with two wins. The promotion then matched her against another young fighter, Maycee Barber. Barber was on a two-fight losing skid at the time. She ended that run of defeats with a split-decision win over Maverick.

Things did not get any easier for Maverick in her next matchup, as the UFC booked her opposite Erin Blanchfield, who was 1-0 in the UFC, but riding a four-fight winning streak. Blanchfield kept that winning streak intact with a unanimous decision win over Maverick.

Since those back-to-back setbacks, Maverick has gone 6-1 with her only loss being a June 2023 decision to Jasmine Jasudavicius. She is 4-0 in her most recent bouts, and coming off a unanimous decision win over Jamey-Lyn Horth in December.

Maverick is ranked 11th in the UFC’s 125-pound division.
