Democratic California Senator Adam Schiff has formed the “Senator Schiff Legal Defense Fund” as the Trump Department of Justice closes in on his mortgage fraud scheme.

As The Gateway Pundit reported, Schiff is under investigation by the US Attorney’s office in Maryland for mortgage fraud after he was caught refinancing his home in 2009, 2010, 2011, and 2013, claiming the Maryland home was his primary residence despite being a Representative from California.

The Gateway Pundit’s Joe Hoft was first to report on Schiff’s mortgage fraud back in April 2023.

Schiff has also come in the crosshairs of the Department of Justice for his role in the Russia Collusion Hoax and leaking classified information to the media while serving as the House Intelligence Committee Ranking Member, according to a whistleblower.

Now, he’s started a tax-exempt section 527 political organization to collect donations for his defense.

Per Politico:

“It’s clear that Donald Trump and his MAGA allies will continue weaponizing the justice process to attack Senator Schiff for holding this corrupt administration accountable,” Marisol Samayoa, a spokesperson for Schiff, said in a statement. “This fund will ensure he can fight back against these baseless smears while continuing to do his job.”

Just a few months ago, Schiff vowed he would place a hold on Martin’s nomination to be U.S. Attorney in D.C., an effort to slow his confirmation prospects. Martin ultimately failed to gain enough support among the Senate GOP to secure his confirmation after Republican Sen. Thom Tillis said he would oppose Martin over his past defense of Jan. 6 rioters and his comments about the attack. Trump ultimately selected him for another post at the Department of Justice.

Schiff’s attorney, Preet Bharara — who has had his own confrontations with Trump as the top federal prosecutor in the Southern District of New York — has argued that Martin’s involvement into the Schiff probe represents “the very definition of weaponization of the justice process.”

Federal Housing Finance Agency Director Bill Pulte, who referred Schiff to the DOJ for motrgage fraud responded to the accusations that this is a politically motivated investigation in an interview with Fox’s Laura Ingraham on Wednesday. “When I see mortgage fraud, I report it. I mean, that’s what I was hired to do. I swore in my testimony well before I even knew about the Schiff situation that I would root out mortgage fraud, and that’s exactly what I’m doing,” he said. “It doesn’t matter who you are, whether you’re a Republican or a Democrat, if you do mortgage fraud, we’re going to come after you.”

Pulte further commented on other pending investigations against officials, including Federal Reserve Governor Lisa Cook. Pulte also referred Cook to the DOJ for lying on her mortgage application and falsifying bank statements when she designated her out-of-state Atlanta condo as her “primary residence”—just two weeks after taking a loan on her Michigan home, which she also claimed as her “primary residence,” The Gateway Pundit reported.

“I believe it’s blatant and massive mortgage fraud,” he told Ingraham of the Cook case. “I would anticipate seeing her be prosecuted and criminally charged for mortgage fraud, just based on what I’ve seen.”

“Whether it’s the Schiff case, or the Letitia James case, or this case, or all the other cases that we refer, this Cook one is not going away, and she can laugh all she wants, but the law will catch up with her,” he added.

WATCH:

Ingraham: In the face of allegations, documentary allegations, that the man supposedly as sophisticated as he is lied on his mortgage application to what get more favorable loan terms? Look, this is not just hypocrisy. Could be poetic justice. Here to discuss is Bill Pulte, US Federal Housing Director. Director Pulte, thank you for joining us tonight. Now, reading between the lines of what Schiff and his cronies and friends are saying is essentially that you, wanting to get in Trump’s good graces, went on a fishing expedition for these mortgage documents, and it’s all political retribution, pure and simple. And to that, you say?

Pulte: Well, it’s nonsense. I’m not a politician. I’m in the business of mortgages and housing, and when I see mortgage fraud, I report it. I mean, that’s what I was hired to do. I swore in my testimony well before I even knew about the Schiff situation that I would root out mortgage fraud, and that’s exactly what I’m doing. And I’m not going to be intimidated by the media, who is now coming up with these crazy hit pieces, or politicians like Adam Schiff and his lawyers, who are trying to attack me. I’m a regulator, and I’m the conservator on behalf of President Trump, under President Trump’s leadership. And in President Trump’s America, we’re not going to have mortgage fraud. It doesn’t matter who you are, whether you’re a Republican or a Democrat, if you do mortgage fraud, we’re going to come after you.
