Real America’s Voice correspondent Ben Bergquam on Thursday spoke to ICE agents as they arrested Hanover Police Department officer Radule Bojovic, a sworn police officer in Hanover Park, Illinois, for being in the country illegally.
As The Gateway Pundit reported on Thursday, Bojovic was arrested by ICE, and it was the “second known instance in recent months of a local police department hiring an illegal alien and unlawfully issuing him a firearm while on duty in violation of federal law,” said ICE Enforcement and Removal Operations Chicago Field Office Director Sam Olson.
“Radule Bojovic violated our nation’s laws and was living ILLEGALLY in the United States for 10 years—what kind of police department gives criminal illegal aliens badges and guns? It’s a felony for aliens to even possess a firearm. A law enforcement officer who is actively breaking the law,” DHS Assistant Secretary Tricia McLaughlin said in a statement.
Ben Bergquam spoke to the illegal alien, who confirmed that he had been working for the department since January– before Trump took office. Bojovic told him that he was authorized to even carry a firearm while on duty!
An ICE agent told Bergquam that the police department only requires work authorization to let noncitizens serve in the police force. “if that’s the case, they still cannot ignore the fact that he was overstaying. That’s a federal statute, so whether or not that came up or they missed it or whatever,” the agent said, adding that they voilated federal law by missing or ignoring the expiration.

ICE arrests illegal alien serving as a local police officer in Suburban Chicago!
Hanover Park Police Department authorized illegal alien to carry a firearm in violation of federal law.
CHICAGO — While conducting targeted enforcement operations in Rolling Meadows on Oct. 15, ICE Chicago arrested an illegal alien from Montenegro who was recently sworn in as a police officer in the Chicago suburb of Hanover Park. Officers assigned to Operation Midway Blitz identified Radule Bojovic as a B-2 visitor visa overstay, who was required to leave the country by March 31, 2015. He illegally overstayed his visa by more than ten years.
“Illegal aliens are prohibited from owning or possessing firearms — full stop,” said ICE Enforcement and Removal Operations Chicago Field Office Director Sam Olson. “This is the second known instance in recent months of a local police department hiring an illegal alien and unlawfully issuing him a firearm while on duty in violation of federal law. It is alarming how local jurisdictions continue to disregard federal law to the detriment of their communities.”
Upon arrest, Bojovic provided his employee identification card, confirming he is a police officer with the Hanover Park Police Department. Bojovic also admitted that he had no weapons on his person because he’s only authorized to carry his firearm while on duty. As an alien illegally present in the United States, ICE officers immediately placed Bojovic under arrest. This is just the latest instance of Governor JB Pritzker’s continued refusal to abide by federal laws, jeopardizing the welfare of Illinois residents.

Agent: The fact that a police department either missed or overlooked a B2, overstay, which is a federal statute, to me, that’s that’s not a good thing.
Bergquam: So he was a visa overstay, but even that, because non-citizens can’t have a gun, so how can you be a police officer?
Agent: Correct. So, I mean, for Chicago, they have a rule within, from their own police department, that all they require is a work authorization, okay? That’s about it. That’s their requirement, and if that’s the case, they still cannot ignore the fact that he was overstaying. That’s a federal statute, so whether or not that came up or they missed it or whatever, I’m not blaming them, but it was missed, right? So we need to do something.
