War Room’s Steve Bannon and Texas State Rep Brian Harrison weighed in on how teacher unions have control over the State government of Texas. Rep Harrison explained that Florida is the example of fighting the corruption of teacher unions.

“Florida has been leading the fight against teacher unions, and the State of Texas, I think just passed probably the biggest teacher union bribe in the history of America last session called HB2. Almost 10 billion dollars,” Harrison said.

“You guys hate unions,” Bannon said.

“The people do, but the government is all about the teacher unions here in the State of Texas,” Harrison said.

Rep Harrison also explained that in Florida, there is an actual school of choice available for all parents and students. In Texas, a very small number of families get school of choice because most of the money ends up in the pockets of the teacher unions.

“Unlike Florida, where it’s actually universal and every parent can send their kid where they want, in Texas, our school choice bill, only one percent of parents even get to benefit from this thing. And all the rest of the money is shoved over to the teacher union,” Harrison continued.

“It’s not just the liberal indoctrination that’s going up, but the fundamentals of education are plummeting,” Harrison said.

“Only 24 percent of Texas 8th graders are proficient in reading,” Harrison said.

“Only 23 percent of Texas 8th graders are proficient in math,” Harrison continued.

“How can the political class in Austin accept that?” Bannon asked.

“The State of Texas, by the way, should be leading the fight against the liberal, Marxist, leftist, progressive teacher unions. Instead, we are taxing Texans out of their homes to subsidize the teacher unions,” Harrison explained.

“We have the highest effective property tax rate in the country,” Harrison said.

The property taxes are prioritized to be given to leftist organizations instead of being given to help teachers and classrooms.

“We should be prioritizing the teachers in the classrooms. What they are doing they are taking that money and then handing it to liberal extremist organizations,” Harrison continued.
