President Trump on Saturday slammed RINO Senators Thom Tillis and John Cornyn for their attempts to derail Todd Blanche’s confirmation as Attorney General again and announced that he will “push hard” for an Anti-Weaponization Bill to be passed.
Trump previously announced that he would withdraw Blanche’s nomination until Cornyn and Tillis are out of office after a Senate committee postponed a key vote to advance Todd Blanche’s nomination for Attorney General.
Trump said on Saturday that the previously scrapped the $1.776 billion fund to compensate victims of Biden-era abuse will also be reinstated by the Anti-Weaponization Bill after they’re gone. The President said he will “push hard to get the Anti-Weaponization Bill, which takes care of those who have been so badly treated by the Crooked Joe Biden (and Obuma!) Administration (I get nothing, although I was treated horribly!), PASSED.”
On Friday, Trump addressed the issue during a cabinet meeting, where he defended the fund and slammed John Cornyn for executing a personal vendetta against Trump.
“I’m talking about the weaponization against large numbers of people in our country by the Biden administration and by Obama, but by the Biden administration in particular, in this case, but large numbers of people, their lives have been ruined, they’ve been destroyed, their families have been, you know, decimated, they’ve gone to prison for no reason whatsoever,” Trump said.
“I don’t want to be covered by the fund. I probably was abused more than anybody in the history of our country, but I wasn’t looking for that.”
“Todd Blanche is a very, very good man, and he shouldn’t be in the middle of this. He should get approved because you will never get anybody like him. You’re never going to get anybody. And to make him a pawn on this whole thing,” Trump added, noting that Cornyn is just lashing out because Trump endorsed his primary opponent, Ken Paxton.
He further agreed that the Weaponization Fund is “dead,” but he wishes it weren’t. “I’d like to see them compensated for the pain… the Biden administration and the Obama administration weaponized government and destroyed lives.”
When Trump was asked about the Blanche confirmation fight, he again reminded reporters. “Don’t forget, Senator Cornyn thought [Blanche] was phenomenal until he lost.”
He’s become a very angry person, and I understand,” Trump added.
Trump went on to slam Cornyn and Tillis, saying they’re “upset because I wouldn’t Endorse them (they lost, and quit, respectively!).” He added that Todd Blanche will remain in the AG’s office and that he will take care of weaponization victims.
“It will immediately be back on the table, and I will get it done,” he said.
Full statement below:
If Senators Cornyn and Tillis, both upset because I wouldn’t Endorse them (they lost, and quit, respectively!), aren’t going to approve Todd Blanche, one of the most respected professionals, according to everybody, in the Country, to be the United States Attorney General, then I will keep Todd as Acting A.G., and push hard to get the Anti-Weaponization Bill, which takes care of those who have been so badly treated by the Crooked Joe Biden (and Obuma!) Administration (I get nothing, although I was treated horribly!), PASSED. Todd Blanche was a voice of reason! It will immediately be back on the table, and I will get it done. Thank you for your attention to this matter! President DJT
