Bed Bath and Beyond’s Executive Chairman Marcus Lemonis announced on Wednesday that the company is closing all retail stores in Governor Newsom’s California.

Lemonis added, “This isn’t about politics – it’s about reality. California’s system makes it nearly impossible for businesses to succeed, and I won’t put our company, our employees, or our customers in that position.”

Bed Bath and Beyond will continue to ship to customers but is cutting out the overregulated, expensive, and risky environments for businesses in the state.

Gavin Newsom’s press office released a sneering response to Bed, Bath and Beyond after their announcement, saying, “We thought Bed, Bath, and Beyond no longer existed.”
