Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs Trial: Jury Deliberations Face Obstacle as One Juror Reportedly ‘Can’t Follow Judge’s Instructions’

Diddy faces up to life in prison if convicted.

The high stakes, high profile Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs’ sex-trafficking trial is in its final phase as the jury panel has gone into deliberations after seven weeks of testimony and final arguments.

And almost immediately their work hit a complication yesterday (June 30), with the foreperson sending a note saying one juror ‘apparently couldn’t follow the judge’s instructions’.

New York Post reported:

“The panelists, eight men and four women, sent a note to Manhattan federal court Judge Arun Subramanian at around 12:40 p.m. expressing concerns about one of their own. ‘We have a juror, ‘Juror 25,’ who we believe cannot follow your instructions’, the note said.”

“The juror in question is a 51-year-old man with a thick European accent. During jury selection, he revealed he lives in Manhattan with his partner and works as a scientist. He earned a PhD in molecular biology and neuroscience.”

What the note from the jury means is not clear, so far.

The jury panel is deliberating if Diddy’s guilty in one count of racketeering conspiracy, two counts of sex-trafficking and two counts of transportation to engage in prostitution.

No less than 34 witnesses from the prosecution were heard in 7 weeks, while the defense did not call any, and in fact only took around 20 minutes to attempt to refute the government’s case.

“Combs, 55, is accused of forcing his ex-girlfriend Cassie Ventura and a former gal pal ‘Jane’ — who testified anonymously under the pseudonym — to have sex with male escorts while they were on drugs during hours-long ‘freak-offs’.”

Late in the afternoon on Monday (30), the jury sent a second note to the judge requesting clarification on the racketeering charge.

Forbes reported:

“The jury asked Judge Arun Subramanian late Monday afternoon, the first day of deliberations, for clarity on whether it is considered drug distribution if a person who is asked for controlled substances provides them to that person.

Drug distribution is one of the alleged acts jurors are being asked to consider when deciding whether Combs is guilty of the racketeering charge, alongside bribery, forced labor, kidnapping, arson and sex trafficking, according to the jury’s verdict sheet.

Subramanian said Tuesday morning he would refer the jury to language in its instructions about drug distribution: ‘The word ‘distribution’ means actual, constructive, or attempted transfer. To distribute simply means to deliver, to pass over, or to hand over something to another person, or to cause it to be delivered, passed on, or handed over to another. Distribution does not require a sale’.”
