The Ruthless Podcast was on “Fox News Sunday” with Shannon Bream to discuss free speech issues in light of the brutal assassination of Charlie Kirk.

“I want to start with this whole First Amendment, free speech, cancel culture conversation,” Bream said.

“Where are you on all these hot topics, Kimmel and beyond?” Bream asked podcaster Josh Holmes.

“The thing about understanding something about the First Amendment is that you actually have to understand it’s a government action,” Holmes said.

“I think there is a lot of confusion on the left. There’s nothing in the Constitution that actually mandates that somebody have a $60 million a year contract to host a late-night broadcast television show.”

“I didn’t hear those same protests when people were banning social media accounts during all of covid for simply saying something the government didn’t want them to do,” Holmes continued.

“Were they potentially not going to renew him anyway? Ratings? Something else?” Bream asked.

“You have to wonder if maybe the marketplace for left-wing late night talk show hosts is getting smaller and smaller and smaller,” said Ruthless co-host Michael Duncan.

“It’s hard to take a lot of sympathy for the Jimmy Kimmels of the world when now they finally have to live by the rules they wanted to create,” Duncan continued.

John Ashbrook made the case that it is not a two-sided issue. He explained that conservatives handle tragedy in a peaceful way, while the left has typically responded with violence.

“If you look at the left, the left is the violent side of everything that is happening in our country,” Ashbrook said.

“They weren’t burning buildings after the tragic death of Charlie. You look at how the left has handled tragedy, it’s very different.”

“Most of these problems are coming from the left and until we come to grips with that, we are not gonna solve it,” Ashbrook continued.
