REPORT: Swalwell’s Best Bud Senator Ruben Gallego Had Sex with Two Staffers, Sources Claim – Gallego Responds to Claims With Non-Denial

Arizona Senator Ruben Gallego, a well-known close friend of disgraced ex Rep. Eric Swalwell, is facing new allegations of sleeping with multiple Congressional staffers during his time as a Representative.

Gallego has described Swalwell, who resigned from Congress and dropped out of the California Governor’s race after multiple women and a former staffer accused him of sexual assault, as his “best friend in the world.”

According to a report from the New York Post, multiple sources say that Gallego had relationships with two Democratic staffers – both of whom worked for Texas Democrats.

The Senator reportedly admitted the relationships to one source. A second source said they had recently become aware of the sexual encounters. A third unnamed source also confirmed one of the encounters.

One source described Gallego’s behavior as a “pattern of mistakes and missteps and judgment calls,” according to the report. “What else could there be out there?” they asked.

One of the women was in her 20s when Gallego, 46, began a relationship with her.

This comes after the Senate Ethics Committee last month dismissed a complaint filed by Rep. Anna Paulina Luna (R-FL), alleging that Gallego engaged in “campaign finance violations and inappropriate conduct of a sexual nature.”

The six-member panel, headed by Chairman James Lankford (R-OK) and Vice Chairman Chris Coons (D-DE), “did not find evidence” that Gallego violated federal law or Senate rules. However, according to an insider, the Ethics Committee “didn’t ask” about relationships with staffers.

“Ethics looked in the wrong place,” the source said, noting that they “focused squarely on what Luna presented to them.”

Gallego was asked about the report on Capitol Hill earlier, and instead of denying it, he said, “I’m not going to engage in gossip,” according to NBC’s Frank Thorp.

Pressed on the report’s accuracy, he doubled down, again saying, “I’m not going to engage in gossip.”

Meanwhile, Gallego also faces a federal probe into campaign finance violations after it was revealed that he used campaign funds for various inappropriate and potentially illegal expenses. This includes luxury outings, family vacations to Disney World, child care, and Super Bowl tickets with his best pal Eric Swalwell.

A source familiar with the Senator’s spending said he uses his campaign account as a “personal slush fund” in a statement to Politico. “He’s using campaign cash to live a luxury lifestyle,” they said.

Now, the DOJ is reportedly investigating potential campaign finance violations based on a “whistleblower complaint” out of California.
