Rep. John Larson’s loss in Connecticut is a potential warning sign to other Democratic incumbents seeking to fend off challengers over the next month of primaries in New England.

The most endangered: Rhode Island Gov. Dan McKee.

The highly unpopular governor has trailed rival Helena Foulkes, a longtime CVS executive whose grandfather and uncle were both senators from Connecticut, by as much as 20 points in polls in a bitter rematch of their 2022 primary. Their race does not break cleanly along ideological or generational lines and could boil down to gripes about the partially closed Washington Bridge.
