MEA CULPA: Macron Government Apologizes for Scathing Criticism of US After Trump Administration Slow Walks Confirmation of New French Ambassador

French diplomacy is a shadow of what it used to be.

Nowadays, under failing Emmanuel Macron, the French establishment seems hopelessly filled with Leftist-Globalists.

For them, criticism of America, and specifically of the Donald J. Trump administration, has become a cheap way to curry favor with both left-wing voters and with their Globalist overlords.

And the diplomats from the Quai D’Orsay are no exception.

Take, for example, the recent diplomatic spat that took place in France – The vote to give another term for the UN Commissioner for Human Rights Volker Türk.

A simple cursory look at Türk’s bio reveals the usual stripes of a Globalist beast: climate change, open borders, pro-Muslim, praising China, pro-Hamas… you get the drift.

Türk reflects everything that is wrong with the UN, so any one of us could safely assume the US would vote against a new turn for him.

What perhaps we could not anticipate was the complete meltdown by French diplomacy on X. See for yourselves:

Two days after this regrettable social media post, US diplomats walked out of a UN Security Council meeting as the French representative began to speak.

Also, the appointment of French diplomat Aurélien Lechevallier as the new ambassador to the US was blocked by Washington as a result of the spat.

So, you bet the French searched for a way to walk back the attack.

Politico reported:

“In a statement on Friday reported by AFP, France’s mission to the U.N. in Geneva made amends for an online remark it posted in July questioning Washington’s commitment to human rights. ‘France and the United States recently adopted divergent positions during a vote at the United Nations General Assembly. This divergence concerned a single vote and did not relate to the defense of human rights’, the statement read.

‘Differences in public opinion on a vote do not impede close dialogue with the United States and do not call into question our historic alliance, nor our ability to work together to promote peace, stability and prosperity, including within multilateral forums’.

AFP reported that the U.S. State Department responded positively to the apology. ‘We take note of France’s statement and appreciate it; we look forward to collaborating with them to promote our common values ​​and interests’, a State Department official told AFP on condition of anonymity.”

Reports now widely expect Lechevallier to be expediently confirmed for his Washington role.

“It’s not the first time the two countries have had a diplomatic spat. Last year, France summoned U.S. Ambassador Charles Kushner after he published an open letter accusing President Emmanuel Macron’s government of not doing enough to combat rising antisemitism in his country.”
