Outages began spiking around 2:30 p.m. EDT, according to DownDetector.com, and quickly rose to more than 59,000 by 3 p.m. EDT.
Most issues reported—46%—were with the website, while 36% of users reported issues with the app and another 18% reported issues with login as of just before 4 p.m. EDT.
By 3:55 p.m. EDT, outage reports on DownDectector.com fell to about 32,000, and by 5 p.m. they were down to around 3,000.
Zoom’s status page said it was “investigating domain name resolution issues on the zoom.us domain that is affecting multiple services” at 3:17 EDT, and at 4:55 p.m. EDT the company said services had been restored and advised people still having issues to “flush your DNS cache and attempt to reconnect.”

Earlier on Wednesday, music streaming platform Spotify had an outage affecting more than 45,000 users, according to DownDetector.com. After about three hours of issues being reported, Spotify reported the outage had been fixed.

Zoom, which was founded in 2011, saw its popularity skyrocketed in 2020 during the COVID-19 pandemic as more companies moved to remote work. In 2025, Zoom ranked 417th on Forbes’ list of America’s best midsize employers, and the year prior it ranked 280th on Forbes’ list of the world’s best employers. In 2024, Zoom had $4.5 billion in revenue and $9.9 billion in assets, according to Forbes’ estimates.
