Fighter Lennox Clarke has been jailed after being caught supplying drugs to a recognized dealer. Clarke returned to the UK after having been away on trips abroad to evade arrest.

A former British boxing titleholder had fled on the run to Ireland, Thailand as well as Mexico in a bid to avoid drug charges was finally apprehended. The 33-year-old Lennox Clarke, from Stourbridge in the West Midlands, was found by security agencies supplying a known drug dealer with narcotics to be resold on to paying clients.

His career started in 2013 and he was defeated by Lerrone Richards in 2019 before bouncing back 18 months later by thrashing Hutchinson.

Clarke attained the British and Commonwealth super-middleweight belts in 2021 but he lost his first defense against Mark Heffron barely a year later and has not boxed since.

Detective Inspector Phillips disclosed that Gloucestershire Police began obtaining information about wary activity and drug dealing happening back in 2023.

“That investigation led us to Ben Goff, an individual who had just moved back to Gloucestershire, and through him we made the link to Lennox Clarke,” he said. Goff would travel from Cheltenham to meet with Stourbridge based Clarke in the West Midlands,” he said.

“Just after Goff got arrested, Clarke decided to go on the run for a number of months, initially staying in local hotels for a couple of nights, we think, trying to understand whether the police were coming for him,” said the Det Insp Phillips.

“Then, he went out through Wales to Ireland, and spent some time on the run in Thailand, Mexico and other places until he returned to the UK and was arrested,” he said.

Clarke has a sporting record of 20-2-1 (8 Kos). After going 15-0, the boxer suffered an unanticipated blemish when drawing with Karel Horejsek in Birmingham. He bounced back with a career-best victory over Jahmaine Smyle, clinching an IBO bauble.
