The Marxist wing of the Democrat Party has zeroed in on the person whom they want to take on Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer in New York’s 2028 Senate Democratic Primary.
As TGP readers know, political pundits have long speculated that AOC would possibly leave her ultra-safe House seat and try to end Schumer’s political career for good. The other option for her is a run for the White House.
AOC herself appears torn between the two options. The Senate would appear a safer bet, considering polls show her leading Schumer by double-digits.
But the DSA has other ideas. According to The New York Post, the Marxists are pushing far-left City Councilman Chi Ossé as their Senate candidate of choice.
Per the DSA-friendly outlet Hell Gate, Ossé sounded very much like a candidate as he visited Buffalo and Kingston this week.
Ossé pushed for several Marxist policies at Kingston’s Unicorn Bar. These included things like government-run electricity.
He also said this at the event:
I think the era of wait-your-turn politics is over. The time for us, the socialists, is right now.
When Ossé was asked by Hell Gate about challenging Schumer, he sidestepped the question and talked instead about socialists needed to be elected to fight fascism.
“I don’t believe that our current Democratic leadership is standing up to the plate,” he said. “A lot of people are calling for change.”
At the same time, The DSA are reportedly trying to convince AOC to run for President.
“I think it’s not even a rumor,” Hudson Valley State Assemblywoman Sarahana Shrestha told Hell Gate. “DSA is openly trying to convince AOC that she should run.”
But AOC is reportedly worried that if she were to run for president, her personal life would be aired out.
“In some ways, she would be ruining her personal life forever,” Shrestha explained. “I think it’s not a decision to be taken lightly.”
