A student at a Thai school reportedly shot and killed a teacher and wounded several other people before taking his own life on Friday.

The shooting occurred at Debsirin Nonthaburi School in the Bang Kruai district of Nonthaburi province, which forms part of the greater Bangkok metropolitan area, according to local media reports.

Officially confirmed casualty figures remained limited, although unverified reports suggested the toll could be higher. Some accounts claimed that as many as three teachers and three students were among the fatalities, while up to 20 people may have been injured.

Images circulating online purport to show the weapon used in the attack, a semi-automatic pistol commonly available in Thailand, along with dozens of 9mm cartridges.

The school had approximately 3,100 students and 147 teachers during the 2025 academic year, according to official records.

The incident follows another school shooting in southern Thailand’s Hat Yai district in mid-February, in which a female principal was killed and a student injured. The 54-year-old principal was hailed as a hero after reportedly volunteering to take a student’s place during a hostage situation.
