Mayoral frontrunner Zohran Mamdani struggled to execute a single unassisted bench press rep while trying to impress a crowd at the annual Men’s Day open streets event in Brooklyn Saturday.
Photos showed the 33-year-old Socialist, and Democratic Party nominee, was unable to lift a bar loaded with what was said to be 135-pounds off the rack without help — and his two reps required full assistance from a smiling, large-biceped Men’s Day celebrant, photos showed.
After throwing in the towel, Mamdani stood up and gave all the credit to the spotter, who was from the organization “500 Men Making a Difference.”

Zohran leads Republican nominee Curtis Sliwa, as well as incumbent Mayor Eric Adams and former New York Governor Andrew Cuomo, both running as independents, in recent polling heading into the fall campaign season.
AARP poll released August 19 (excerpt):
Assembly Member Zohran Mamdani leads the field in the race for New York City mayor, according to a new poll of registered voters conducted by Gotham Polling & Analytics for AARP. In the initial ballot test, Mamdani received 42% support, followed by former Governor Andrew Cuomo (23%), Guardian Angels founder Curtis Sliwa (17%), Mayor Eric Adams (9%), and other candidates (2%). Eight percent are undecided.
A poll released August 21 by American Pulse Research has Mamdani leading the field with 36.9 percent, Cuomo at 24.6 percent, Sliwa at 16.8 percent and Adams at 11.4 percent support.

Mayor Eric Adams posted a side-by-side video of himself and Mamdani lifting weights at the same event Saturday with the same spotter and weight. Not bad for 64, Mr. Mayor:
