President Donald Trump revoked sanctions on Syria Monday in an executive order, a month after he met with Syria’s interim President, Ahmed al-Sharaa, in Saudi Arabia. Trump’s order lifts sanctions on Syria, although sanctions on former dictator “Bashar al-Assad, his associates, human rights abusers, drug traffickers, persons linked to chemical weapons activities, ISIS or its affiliates, and Iranian proxies” are still in effect, according to a fact sheet from the White House. The White House notes in its fact sheet that the move is to support Syria’s “path to stability and peace.” Secretary of State Marco Rubio is tasked with evaluating…
Democrats cannot stop President Donald Trump’s Big, Beautiful Bill, but the party whose North Star is opposition to Trump is doing whatever it can to delay his victory. Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-NY) told his caucus he will force the Senate clerk to read the mammoth piece of legislation in its entirety, The Hill reported Saturday. The delay tactic could force the Senate to waste over half a day’s time before moving forward with the bill. The reading is expected to begin early Saturday evening after a vote on a motion to proceed to the legislation, delaying a mandatory…
The Senate rejected a bid by Sen. Susan Collins (R-Maine) to raise taxes on the ultra-wealthy and boost money for rural medical providers in the GOP’s megabill. The chamber voted 78-22 against a procedural motion related to her amendment, which would have increased a rural hospital fund from $25 billion over five years to $50 billion and allowed a wider range of health providers to tap it. The amendment also would have raised the top tax rates for individuals who earn more than $25 million a year and couples earning more than $50 million starting next year. It remains unclear…

MSNBC recently featured commentary about the new Supreme Court rulings from Elie Mystal which crossed the river of crazy. Mystal framed his entire argument by saying, ‘Imagine Donald Trump wants to murder you.’ This sort of commentary is meant to do nothing but inflame viewers. It’s meant to push people over the edge. It’s also completely insane. People like this need to be pushed out of the ‘news’ analysis business. Transcript via Real Clear Politics: ELIE MYSTAL: Imagine Donald Trump wants to do something illegal to you. Ali Velshi, imagine that he wants to murder you. Imagine that he and…

International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) Director-General Rafael Grossi said on Sunday that Iran could conceivably resume enriching uranium in a “matter of months,” although he resisted putting an exact timetable on the resurrection of Tehran’s nuclear weapons program after U.S. and Israeli airstrikes. As in most of his public appearances since becoming IAEA director in 2019, Grossi was torn between his absolute priority of encouraging more negotiations and the undeniable truth that Iran has been lying to his agency about its nuclear program. Almost every comment Grossi makes about Iran’s uranium enrichment program concludes with his insistence that only further…
During an interview with ABC News on Monday, U.S. Senate candidate Rep. Haley Stevens (D-MI) responded to a question on whether she worries about taxes going up if the reconciliation bill doesn’t pass by saying she’s worried about the deficit and other provisions in the bill and “I do not think that vote will lead to higher taxes.” Host Diane Macedo asked, “Democrats have blasted cuts to Medicare and SNAP included in this bill, but the White House says voting against the bill will mean a $4 trillion tax increase. Are you worried about the impact on tax cuts if…
Senator Thom Tillis (R-NC) says he will vote against moving forward with President Donald Trump’s One Big Beautiful Bill, warning that the legislation in its current form would gut Medicaid funding for his state. “I will always do what is in the best interest of North Carolina, even when that puts me at odds with my own party,” Tillis wrote in a statement published on X. “I did my homework on behalf of North Carolinians, and I cannot support this bill in its current form. It would result in tens of billions of dollars in lost funding for North Carolina,…
President Donald Trump and his top deputies have started their final public push to get the “big, beautiful bill” over the finish line as the Senate struggles to finish up the legislation. Stephen Miller, Trump’s top policy aide, appeared on Fox News Channel’s “Hannity” Monday night, about 12 hours into the Senate “vote-a-rama,” to angrily rebut criticisms of the bill and fiercely defend its contents. “I am sick and tired of the lies about this bill that have been perpetrated by the opportunists who are trying to make a name for themselves,” he said. “This is the most conservative bill…
