North Carolina’s Democrat Gov. Josh Stein vetoed a Republican effort last week to opt in to the Big, Beautiful Bill’s school choice tax credit program. The GOP-dominated state House and Senate passed House Bill 87, which would have made North Carolina the first state to opt into the newly passed federal school choice tax credit program, BPR News reported. Under the program, taxpayers can “receive a dollar-for-dollar tax credit on up to $1,700 donated to nonprofits awarding scholarships that are both approved by the states and recognized by the federal government.” Families are eligible to receive scholarships if their income…

Medical Assistance in Dying (MAID), Canada’s preferred euphemism for euthanasia, has become so popular practitioners struggle to meet demand. According to government figures for 2023, the last full year of statistics available, MAID accounted for 4.7 percent of deaths nationwide, making Canada second only to the Netherlands. In Quebec, the figure is over seven percent, giving it the highest euthanasia rate in the world. MAID deaths have been growing by double digits each year since the practice was legalized in 2016, and especially since it was approved for patients who are not terminally ill in 2021. The growth of legalized…

Representative Jamie Raskin (D-MD) said Monday on CNN’s “The Arena” that President Donald Trump had “manufactured” an emergency to take federal control of the police department in Washington, D.C. Raskin said, “He’s referring to a provision in the D.C. Home Rule Act which allows him to declare a police emergency relating to a federal matter. They haven’t defined what the emergency is, especially with crime rates at a 30-year low in the District of Columbia, and he’s deployed the National Guard. At least I’m happy to see that he acknowledges he has. The power to activate the National Guard. That was…
Wanting to stop crime is racist? Wanting our nation’s capital to be a place where citizens can go and petition their government or speak to their elected officials without being robbed is racist? Well, according to Democrat Representative Jim Clyburn those goals are equal to Jim Crow 2.0. The Gateway Pundit reported, South Carolina Rep. Jim Clyburn has insisted that President Trump’s cleanup of Washington D.C. amounts to Jim Crow 2.0. Trump deployed the National Guard to the streets of Washington D.C. in order to crack down on soaring crime and homelessness. In an interview with MSNBC’s Alicia Menendez, Clyburn…

Tariffs Are Trade Regulation A federal judge in Washington recently ruled that the president cannot impose tariffs under the International Emergency Economic Powers Act (IEEPA). The decision, handed down in Learning Resources v. Trump, claims that while IEEPA lets the president “regulate importation,” it doesn’t go far enough because it doesn’t use specific words like “tariffs,” “duties,” or “taxes.” Unless Congress spells it out, the court held, the president may block or prohibit imports, but not charge a fee on them. That distinction is now under serious challenge from a well-placed source: Chad Squitieri, a professor at Catholic University and…
