ANOTHER PAXTON WIN: Ken Paxton Announces 7 MILLION FREE EGGS Will Be Distributed to Struggling Texas Families Following Trump DOJ and State’s Antitrust Crackdown

Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton announced Tuesday that more than seven million free eggs secured through antitrust settlements with three major producers are being distributed to food banks across the Lone Star State.

More than 1.7 million eggs have already reached Texas food banks, while another 5.322 million are scheduled for delivery in the coming weeks, according to the Texas Attorney General’s Office.

“BIG NEWS: After securing 7 million eggs for the people of Texas, I am excited to announce that Texans will now have an opportunity to receive cartons of free eggs in communities across the state,” Paxton announced on X.

The massive food distribution resulted from settlements Paxton secured in June with Cal-Maine Foods, Centrum/Versova, and Hickman’s Egg Ranch.

The agreements resolved claims brought by President Trump’s Justice Department and 17 state attorneys general over an alleged scheme to manipulate an influential egg-price benchmark between 2022 and 2025.

According to the Justice Department, the companies allegedly coordinated their bidding activity to artificially drive up daily egg-price quotations published by Urner Barry, a benchmark used in contracts throughout the grocery and food-service industries.

Prosecutors alleged the companies submitted large numbers of aggressive bids, some unlikely to result in actual transactions, to create the appearance of increased demand and push benchmark prices higher.

Under the proposed settlements, the producers agreed to donate more than 53 million eggs to food banks and community organizations across participating states. More than seven million of those eggs are designated for Texas.

The companies also agreed to pay a combined $3.3 million to the participating states and implement antitrust compliance programs designed to prevent similar conduct.

The Gateway Pundit previously reported in March 2025 that the Trump Justice Department had launched an investigation into soaring egg prices and possible collusion among major producers.

That investigation is now delivering something tangible to working Americans: millions of eggs for families struggling to afford groceries.

The Texas deliveries are being coordinated with Feeding Texas, the state’s largest hunger-relief organization. Seventeen food banks will receive eggs, including:

  • Houston Food Bank: 1,544,400 eggs
  • North Texas Food Bank: 842,400 eggs
  • Tarrant Area Food Bank: 842,400 eggs
  • Central Texas Food Bank: 561,600 eggs
  • Food Bank of the Rio Grande Valley: 561,600 eggs
  • San Antonio Food Bank: 464,600 eggs
  • East Texas Food Bank: 280,800 eggs
  • Coastal Bend Food Bank: 280,800 eggs
  • El Pasoans Fighting Hunger: 280,800 eggs
  • West Texas Food Bank: 280,800 eggs
  • South Texas Food Bank: 280,800 eggs

Six additional participating food banks will each receive 140,400 eggs.

Texans seeking assistance can use Feeding Texas’ food-bank locator to find their nearest participating organization and obtain local distribution information.
