One person is dead following a residential blaze that broke out Thursday evening at a home in the Town of Addison.

Multiple area fire departments were dispatched to 8752 State Route 417 for a reported house fire, according to New York State Police at Painted Post.

Arriving first responders located an unconscious male on the second level of the residence, state police said. He was removed from the structure and CPR was administered at the scene by emergency medical personnel.

Despite life-saving efforts, the man was pronounced dead by the Steuben County coroner. State police identified the victim as Randy Allington, 64, a resident of the home.

The Steuben County Fire Investigation Team also responded and is assisting in determining the origin and cause of the fire. At this time, the cause of the fire remains under investigation.

There was no word if anyone else was in the home at the time, but state police say no other injuries were reported to any occupants or first responders.

New York State Police were assisted by the Addison, Tuscarora, Thurston, Forest View-Gang Mills, Painted Post, Woodhull and Cameron fire departments, along with AMR Ambulance, Addison Ambulance, and the Addison Police Department.
