President Trump this week defended his plan to give $5,000 to every American adult if Republicans win the midterm elections, assuring Fox’s Laura Ingraham that the country can afford it despite the approximately $40.10 trillion US national debt.
The $40 trillion debt will be taken care of over time, he said, “through growth.”
As The Gateway Pundit reported, Trump announced that he will give a $5,000 dividend to every adult man and woman in the country if Republicans retain the House and Senate majorities this election cycle during his Wednesday speech at the Republican National Committee midterm convention in Dallas, Texas.
“The country is doing so well— we’ve taken in trillions of dollars in tariffs and other things. We have now over $20 trillion worth of manufacturing plants and other investments being made in the United States, which is far greater than ever before,” Trump went on to explain in an interview the next day, adding that he can probably give the dividends without congressional approval.
President Trump spoke to Ingraham on Thursday before delivering his closing remarks at the convention. Ingraham pressed Trump on several questions raised by his critics and many of his supporters, including the plausibility of the more than $1 trillion initiative, whether it’s an attempt to buy the election, and how it differs from socialist policies.
“We’re 40 trillion dollars in debt. How is that financially responsible or even doable?” asked Ingraham. Trump responded, saying the money will be required to be spent in the United States, instead of goods from other countries.
“We’re going to take care of the 40 trillion over a period of time through growth. We’re growing at a faster rate than we’ve ever grown before,” Trump added.
Asked about claims that he’s buying the election and why he’s waiting until after the election to follow through, Trump said, “The Democrats can’t do it because with them it’s negative growth. With us, it’s so positive.”
“We’re taking in 21 trillion dollars. No country’s ever taken in anywhere near that. It’s four or five times higher than the next, all because of that beautiful word that you and I love more than most others: tariffs,” he continued, noting that medical companies are building 19 plants now in the United States, in addition to other industries.
Trump again said, “There are a lot of people think I don’t even need congressional approval because we’ve made so much money.”
Trump also shrugged off the accusation of socialism, saying, “It’s real entrepreneurship. That’s really what it is.”
“Some people say, ‘that’s communism.’ It’s not communism. It’s actually good entrepreneurship,” the President added.

Trump also slammed the Democrats in a Truth Social post, likening the payment to the $1,776 gift he gave US military members last year and vowing, “The $5,000 Dividend will happen because the People of our Country deserve it.”
