Uganda Pulls Out of Invictus Games, Calling it ‘Harry-Meghan Nonsense’ That ‘Does Not Have King Charles Approval’

Uganda wants no part of what they call ‘Harry-Meghan nonsense’

Another day, another blow to Harry’s return to Britain.

The return of Harry and Meghan to the UK apparently continues to be quite bumpy.

Today, Uganda has announced that they are pulling out of Prince Harry’s flagship project Invictus Games, claiming the event ‘does not have the King’s approval’.

While the African country is just one of the 26 involved in the Birmingham/2027 competition, the manner in which they pulled out may have lasting consequences.

The Telegraph reported:

“Gen Muhoozi Kainerugaba, the country’s military chief, said on Wednesday that he was withdrawing to quash support for ‘Harry-Meghan nonsense’ within his defense ministry.”

Kainerugaba’s reaction appears to be linked to Buckingham Palace’s letter confirming that the Duke and Duchess of Sussex are ‘private citizens’, and that their work is not done on behalf of the Royal Family.

“Gen. Kainerugaba, son of Uganda’s president, wrote on X: ‘In order not to be construed as being opposed to His Majesty King Charles III of the United Kingdom, whom we deeply revere, Uganda hereby withdraws from the Invictus Games. We shall not participate in anything that does not have His Majesty’s approval’.”

“He told The Times: ‘I have factions in the ministry of defense that support that Harry-Meghan nonsense. I had to quash it straight away. I support the monarch. Period’.”

BBC reported:

“A Uganda government spokesman confirmed this to the BBC: ‘General Kainerugaba decides whether or not the UPDF [Uganda People’s Defense Force] participates in the Invictus Games. What you saw is his stated position. If it changes, he will let the world know’.

[…] A spokesman for the Invictus Games said they had not received any official information about a potential withdrawal and have been seeking clarification from their contacts in Uganda.

General Kainerugaba’s lively postings on X on Thursday also included: ‘I consider myself the most handsome, most daring and glorious Commander who ever lived’.”
