WWE Royal Rumble 2025 from Lucas Oil Stadium advertised the much-anticipated men’s Royal Rumble and the women’s Royal Rumble. John Cena and Charlotte Flair headlined the men’s and women’s Rumble, respectively, while possible surprise appearances included Becky Lynch, The Rock, Joe Hendry and AJ Lee.

In non-Royal Rumble competition, the Motor City Machine Guns challenged DIY for the WWE Tag Team Championship, while Cody Rhodes defended the WWE Championship against Kevin Owens in a Ladder Match.

Charlotte Flair returned to win the women’s Royal Rumble while Jey Uso shocked (most of) the world to win the men’s Royal Rumble match.

WWE Royal Rumble 2025 Highlights, Winners And Grades

Stephanie McMahon Kicks Off WWE Royal Rumble 2025

Stephanie McMahon gave an impromptu town hall by saying WWE grows because of the fans, who have made this the biggest Royal Rumble in history.

Stephanie McMahon welcomed everybody to the 2025 Royal Rumble to a huge pop, and even bigger pyro. WWE then threw to its opening video package.

Charlotte Flair Wins Women’s 2025 Royal Rumble Match

Michael Cole noted that Liv Morgan has finished as the runner-up in the last two Royal Rumble matches. In a babyface vs. heel matchup to kickoff the rumble, a hot Lucas Oil Stadium exploded in cheers.

There was a stat ticker throughout the Rumble that featured past Royal Rumble winners and a stats such as this being the eighth women’s Royal Rumble match and how the winner would become the No. 1 Contender for a women’s world title. The “real sports” stat ticker also served as a countdown each entrant.

Chelsea was the Daniel Bryan 2015 of the 2025 Royal Rumble match. Fans cheered when she pointed at the WrestleMania sign. They chanted “Chelsea” multiple times and even exploded in cheers when she scored the first elimination of the night over B-Fab.

Beginning in the middle portion, PFC—at full strength—began dominating the Royal Rumble match.

Wade Barrett calling fan favorite Chelsea Green the most-hated woman in the locker room, while praising possible Jade Cargill attacker Naomi as the most popular woman in the locker room speaks volumes about the judgment of the women’s locker room.

Piper Niven finally hit the ring to save Chelsea Green, only to accidentally eliminate the United States (and people’s) champion.

Jordynne Grace hit the ring as the first surprise entrant and wasted no time impressing, hitting Piper Niven with a Death-Valley Driver. Grace and Naomi reunited briefly, but Bianca was not having it. Bianca grabbed Grace by her lacefront and tried to eliminate her.

Alexa Bliss surprised at No. 21. Both Michael Cole and Wade Barrett went off on the dirt sheets for misreporting that Bliss wouldn’t be in the Rumble.

Trish Stratus hit the ring at No. 23 and the pop was deafening. She wore her throwback T and A gear as fans chanted “this is awesome!”

Charlotte Flair received pyro for her Royal Rumble entrance at No. 27. She took her time getting to the ring in a stacked Final 10 entries.

Nikki Bella closed out the field as the final entrant, which means no Becky Lynch.

Nia Jax absolutely dominated with a whopping nine eliminations. She was finally upended by 2025 winner Charlotte Flair.

MCMG Def. DIY

Fans were predictably down for this two-out-of-three falls match, but that didn’t stop these two great tag teams from working their butts off to get fans back.

There was a trick tag that confused MCMG, leading to DIY scoring the first pinfall.

MCMG battled back to tie the match with a Skull and Bones on Johnny Gargano.

Two men appeared in black hoodies and cost MCMG the tag team titles. Shockingly, those men were the Street Profits. Ford and Dawkins then attacked DIY. Fans cheered the tag team as they raised the titles, once again trying a heel-turn.

Cody Rhodes Def. Kevin Owens

Earlier in the night, Cody Rhodes was shown entering the building wit a concerned look on his face. Owens, on the other hand, casually entered in a golf cart.

Kevin Owens was cheered during his entrance. There were even slight chants of “KO” after the ring introductions. There were even louder “Cody” chants until the chants became split.

Cody and Kevin brawled throughout the crowd as both drew comparisons to the late, great Dusty Rhodes. The comparisons were obvious in each case.

Michael Cole announced the third-largest gate in WWE history for the WWE Royal Rumble 2025, surpassed by only two WrestleManias.

Owens took out Rhodes with a small stepladder, which inspired a Hornswoggle reference from Michael Cole. Owens then went “mid-risk” by getting on top of the little ladder and teasing a dive, only to step off.

At one point, Rhodes was dangling 20 feet in the air, but Owens was able to thwart him, causing him to crash into a Pop-Up Powerbomb.

Rhodes came back by tearing off the bottom rung of the ladder and beating Owens with it. A tactic he learned from Wade Barrett.

In the most brutal spot of this match, Owens took a back bump on the top edge of the ladder. Fans canted “holy s—t” in response.

The Ladder Match earned its second “holy s—t” chant after Owens hit a Fisherman’s Buster onto a ladder. WWE officials checked on both Owens and Rhodes. Sami Zayn came out and checked on Owens and Rhodes.

The fight continued and Rhodes finally snapped, bloodying Kevin Owens. Sami looked on in concern. Cody countered a Package Piledriver with an amazing Alabama Slam through a ladder. More “Holy s—t” chants. Sami continued to look on as Cody grabed the titles for the win.

Jey Uso Wins Men’s 2025 Royal Rumble Match

Rey Mysterio and Penta started the Royal Rumble in a luchador dream match. A genuine “LFG” moment.

Penta’s feet almost touched the floor early on. I don’t think they did, but WWE did not show a replay.

I felt Carmelo could be a candidate to eliminate John Cena, but Melo was thrown out early by Bron Breakker.

IShowSpeed was the first surprise entrant, replacing Akira Tozawa. Speed eliminated Otis in Crocs, only to be destroyed with a Spear from Breakker and eliminated.

Jacob Fatu scored three eliminations within the first minute of his stay in the Royal Rumble. There’s a reason he’s the favorite for most eliminations.

Kaiser, who delayed getting into the ring, flirted with the record for shortest in-ring time. Penta eliminated Kaiser, but it was later confirmed that Santino Marella still holds the record.

Joe Hendry made an exciting surprise appearance, only to be eliminated by Roman Reigns. After a brief exchange between Reigns and Breakker (which Reigns won), Reigns and Fatu brawled in the ring.

Similar to the women’s Royal Rumble, there was an amazing sequence where one big star after another hit the ring. There was more posturing than actually wrestling, but the star power was so strong they didn’t need to do anything. AJ Styles, Braun Strowman, John Cena, Seth Rollins, Dominik Mysterio, CM Punk and Sami Zayn and Logan Paul all entered within close proximity.

The Rumble came down to Cena and Jey Uso. In a hard-fought battle, Jey Uso won the Royal Rumble Match.
