Cincinnati Fire Department officials were called Sunday morning to rescue a woman trapped by high water at Sawyer Point.

A woman experiencing homelessness fell asleep overnight on the stage of the Procter and Gamble Pavilion, but when she awoke, she was surrounded by water, said Lindsay Haegele, a Cincinnati Fire Department spokesperson.

First responders were dispatched to the park and had to deploy boats to bring the woman to safety. Haegele said no injuries were reported from the incident.

The Ohio River at Cincinnati was last observed at a flood stage of 58 feet, at which level numerous homes and businesses in areas along the river become surrounded by water, with water seeping into basements or main levels. It is expected to crest at 60 feet by Monday morning, according to the National Weather Service.
