Mayor Craig Greenberg said water levels on the Ohio River could continue to rise with more snow on the way for Louisville.
Water levels on the Ohio River currently remain high and will likely rise through the week before receding, Greenberg said at a press conference Tuesday morning. Some locations closed near River Road, where flooding is most significant, include Carrie Gaulbert Cox Park and Eva Bandman Park.
“Right now, the Ohio River is at 25 feet, which is just above flood stage, so we’re experiencing some flooding in certain low lying areas along River Road,” Greenberg said. “According to the National Weather Service, we expect the Ohio River to crest at about 3 or 4 feet higher than it’s current stage sometime by Friday, and then it will begin to recede.”
