Nosferatu—Robert Eggers’ remake of the vampire classic starring Bill Skarsgård, Nicholas Hoult and Lily-Rose Depp—is new in theaters. When will the film be available to watch on streaming at home?
Nosferatu opens in theaters nationwide on Christmas Day. The official logline for the film reads, “Nosferatu is a gothic tale of obsession between a haunted young woman and the terrifying vampire infatuated with her, causing untold horror in its wake.”
Set in the 1800s, Nosferatu stars Skarsgård as the vampire, Count Orlok in Nosferatu, while Hoult plays Thomas Hutter, a real-estate agent who is instructed by his boss, Herr Knock (Simon McBurney), to find Orlok a new estate. Lily-Rose Depp plays Thomas’ wife, Ellen Hutter—whom Orlok is obsessing over.
Directed and written for the screen by Eggers, Nosferatu also stars Aaron Taylor-Johnson, Emma Corrin, Ralph Ineson and Willem Dafoe.
Right now, the only way you can see Nosferatu is in theaters, so check your local listings for showtimes.
The first stop for Nosferatu in the home entertainment market will be on digital streaming via premium video on demand. While some studios’ digital streaming release dates are determined by how well their films do at the box office, others follow more of a set pattern.
Nosferatu’s studio, Focus Features, tends to follow a set release pattern for its PVOD releases, which is generally three weeks to a month after their films hit theaters.
For example, the summer Focus Features release The Bikeriders, which was released on June 21 in theaters, pivoted to PVOD 18 days later on July 9. Another high-profile Focus Features release, Conclave, which was released in theaters on Oct. 25, arrived on PVOD a little over a month later on Nov. 26.
In all likelihood, Nosferatu will follow the same release pattern as Conclave, so viewers may see it debut on PVOD either on Friday, Jan. 24, 2025, or Tuesday, Jan. 28, 2025, since new digital streaming titles are generally released on Tuesdays or Fridays.
Which Streaming Service Will Get ‘Nosferatu’ First?
Since Focus Features is a subsidiary of NBC Universal, Nosferatu will make its streaming video on demand debut on the company’s Peacock streaming platform.
Like Focus Features’ PVOD releases, the studio’s SVOD releases also tend to follow a set release pattern.
For example, The Bikeriders, which debuted in theaters on June 21, made its SVOD debut on Peacock exactly seven weeks later, on Aug. 9.
In addition, Conclave, which debuted in theaters on October 25, arrived on Peacock on Dec. 13.
If Nosferatu follows the same seven-week release pattern as The Bikeriders and Conclave, then viewers can expect the film to arrive on Peacock just over seven weeks later on Feb. 14, 2025—since the streaming service tends to debut their Focus Features SVOD releases on Friday.
Directed by Robert Eggers from his own screenplay inspired by Henrik Galeen’original Nosferatu script and Bram Stoker’s novel Dracula, Nosferatu will open in theaters nationwide on Christmas Day.
