White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt on Sunday addressed the question of why President Trump’s meeting with Ukraine President Volodymyr Zelensky on Friday was publicly televised, and explained why “it was great for the cameras to be in there.”

“The American people and the world were able to see what the President and his team has seen behind the scenes in negotiating with President Zelensky’s team,” she said, indicating that Zelensky’s behavior and unwillingness to make peace has been an ongoing struggle in the effort to end the war.

“They have continually denied the pragmatic reality of where their country stands today.”

What was already a done deal and a public signing of an agreement went haywire when Zelensky, who couldn’t even bother to wear a suit, repeatedly rolled his eyes, interrupted the President, refused to agree to a ceasefire, then started attacking the President and Vice President. Ukraine had previously agreed to Trump’s requested mineral rights deal with the US to compensate Americans for the hundreds of billions of dollars of taxpayer money Joe Biden gave them over the last four years, but the agreement was not officialized Friday.

A White House spokesperson confirmed on background that the deal was not signed, and it’s clear that Zelensky does not want peace for his country.

At one point during the meeting with cameras rolling, Zelensky decided he wanted to play the role of a leftist reporter and press Vice President Vance with questions attacking the Trump Administration for Obama and Biden’s failures.

Vance called Zelensky out for disrespecting the President, and President Trump blasted him for “gambling with World War III.”

Zelensky has refused to apologize for going after the President and Vice President. After his removal from the White House, he even told Bret Baier that he’s “not sure we did something bad” and attacked President Trump for allowing cameras in the room.

“I don’t think they really want to stop Putin. They want to continue this bloodshed,” Ukraine-born U.S. Rep Victoria Spartz (R-IN) said in condemnation of Zelensky’s despicable behavior.

Karoline Leavitt joined Fox’s Howard Kurtz on Sunday to announce, “It’s a different sheriff in town,” and Zelensky’s refusal to recognize he can’t talk down to Trump like he did with Biden is unacceptable.

Kurtz: Why hold the meeting in front of the cameras?

Leavitt: Because President Trump is the most transparent president in history, and as he said, it was great for the cameras to be in there because the American people and the world were able to see what the President and his team has seen behind the scenes in negotiating with President Zelensky’s team.

They have continually denied the pragmatic reality of where their country stands today. Three years have passed, hundreds of 1000s of people have died, Zelensky is losing the support of the American public for funding this effort, and it’s a different sheriff in town. President Trump is not the same as President Biden. He has different priorities. He wants to negotiate a deal. President Zelensky failed to recognize that.
