BELLA VISTA, Ark. (KNWA/KFTA) — It’s time to find out who is this year’s top dog in Bella Vista.
The 2024 “Weiner or Corgi Takes All” Dog Races will see dachshunds and corgis compete for the title of Grand Champion, according to the event’s website.
Events include a costume contest, “Musical Sit” and “Wanna Be” races for dogs of any breed.
Race heats will be organized by breed and dog age leading up to the semifinals.

The races are part of the second annual Northwest Arkansas Festival from Oct. 17 to Oct. 19 at 1991 Forest Hills Blvd, Bella Vista.
The festival features more fundraising events for the Bella Vista Animal Shelter, an arts and crafts fair, a country music concert and the Arkansas State Championship Barbeque Contest.

9:00 a.m. – 10:00 a.m.: Check-in for racers
9:15 a.m. – 9:45 a.m.: Joint Forces K9 Demonstration (Safety training for dogs)
10:00 a.m. – 10:05 a.m.: Opening Ceremonies
10:15 a.m. – 10:30 a.m.: All Breeds Costume Contest (Vote for the cutest dog)
10:30 a.m. – 11:30 a.m.: Race Heats (Wiener and Corgi racing by age)
11:30 a.m. – 12:00 p.m.: Bella Vista Police Department K9 Demonstration
12:00 p.m. – 12:15 p.m.: Door Prize announcements & Vendor Raffles
12:15 p.m. – 12:30 p.m.: Parade of Royalty, Racers and Adoptables (Featuring dogs from Bella Vista Animal Shelter)
12:30 p.m. – 1:00 p.m.: Musical Sit (Last dog standing wins!)
1:00 p.m. – 1:15 p.m.: Wanna Be Racers (Open to all breeds)
1:15 p.m. – 1:30 p.m.: Race Heats (Wiener and Corgi racing by age)
1:30 p.m. – 1:45 p.m.: Semi-Finals and Final Heats (Wiener vs. Corgi for Grand Champion)
1:45 p.m. – 2:00 p.m.: Door Prizes / Raffle / Race prizes (Pick up winnings)
