WASHINGTON D.C. — Wayne County Sheriff Randy Retter is heading to Congress.
On Monday, U.S. Rep. Jefferson Shreve (IN-06) announced in a press release that Retter accepted his invitation to attend President Donald Trump’s address to a joint session of Congress on Tuesday night.
In the release, Shreve said, “I’m honored to have a prominent member of Indiana’s law enforcement join me at the president’s address to a joint session of Congress. Sheriff Retter has been a leader in supporting our immigration laws and ensuring the safety of Wayne County and East Central Indiana. Through his cooperation with ICE, he’s moved drug traffickers off our streets.”
Retter has been involved in law enforcement for over 35 years and has been sheriff in Wayne County for six. He has also served as a patrol deputy, patrol sergeant and detective sergeant, as well as a lieutenant, Enforcement Division commander and SWAT team leader.
Retter was also president of the Indiana Sheriff’s Association and currently sits on the board of the National Sheriffs Association.
