Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent absolutely humiliated one of the worst Trump-hating anchors on national TV today after he caught her having a case of amnesia.

Bessent appeared on “Face the Nation” to discuss >a variety of issues related to China, including the stalled trade talks with Beijing. Naturally, Brennan laid the blame at the feet of the Trump Administration, which sparked a fierce back-and-forth.

Things then went haywire for Brennan when she asserted that there would be only two results from this ongoing trade war with China, both of them bad.

“The reality is there will either be less inventory or higher prices or both,” Brennan claimed.

But Brennan forgot what she said about inflation two months ago, which Bessent was thrilled to remind her about.

“Margaret, when we were here in March, you said there was going to be big inflation,” Bessent replied. “There hasn’t been any inflation.”

“Actually, the inflation numbers are the best in 4 years,” he added. “So why don’t we stop trying to say this could happen and wait and see what does happen?”

Oops.

Undeterred, a snarky Brennan tried again to entrap Bessent on tariffs and economics by citing negative comments from a handful of major companies.

“You listen to earnings calls just like we do,” Brennan said. “You know what Walmart’s saying, Best Buy, Target, of what’s coming.”

But Bessent again caught Brennan off guard by doing his homework and sharing it with her.

“Margaret, I also know what Home Depot and Amazon are saying,” Bessent replied. “I know what the South China Morning Post wrote in the past 24 hours: that 65% of the tariffs will likely be eaten by Chinese producers.”
