A liberal CNN anchor ended up committing a cardinal sin at the end after getting thoroughly by his guest throughout the segment.
On Friday, CNN News Central co-host Boris Sanchez brought on GOP Rep. Lisa McClain of Michigan to discuss President Trump’s ongoing trade wars, particularly with Canada. As one would expect, things got testy almost immediately.
During the segment, a snarky Sanchez tried to ambush McClain by saying she claimed that Democrats were conspiring with auto company CEOs to scare people into believing prices would go up due to tariffs.
McClain fired back by saying that Sanchez was putting words in her mouth. The CNN anchor responded by doubling down before McClain fired back and embarrassed him.
“All you need to do is turn on your TV, look at your show,” McClain says while Sanchez scoffs. “It’s all the Democrats do.”
“What’s inflation doing? (Is it) up or down?” she asks. “It’s down.”
“What’s the price of eggs? Oh, they’re down,” McClain continued. “What’s the price of mortgages? Oh, it’s down.”
“But we don’t cover the positive things. We only cover the negative things to get people worked up.”

McClain then outlined two possible outcomes regarding the tariffs.
“This could be a potential problem, but it could be a potential long-term solution,” she said. “But when you don’t cover the other half…Of course, that’s what you’re going to hear (the negative).
“Chairwoman, I, I,” a shaky Sanchez stammers before freezing up. McClain then continues to call him out.
“That’s what real news people used to do, give both sides of the story,” she says before repeating her previous point regarding the tariffs.
“Instead of getting people all ginned up…Let’s talk about the vision on which we’re actually trying to do,” McClain adds. “Which is putting America on the course to being respected again.”
After McClain concluded her point, Sanchez made an inexcusable error while trying to lecture the Michigan congresswoman: he forgot her name!
“Chairwoman, thank you so much for joining us,” he says. “I wish you would watch our show more often, because you would see that we do have both sides on.”
“Specifically, that’s why you’re on the air today, to present that side. That’s what we do here at CNN, uh, Chairwoman Linda McClain,” he continues. “Thank you so much for the time.”
“Lisa, thank you,” she responds.
