Alec Baldwin and his brother Stephen Baldwin crashed an SUV into a tree in East Hampton, New York, on Monday.

Alec Baldwin crashed his wife’s white Range Rover into a tree along Montauk Highway in East Hampton.

On Monday night Baldwin claimed a garbage truck the ‘size of a whale’ cut him off before he crashed head-first into a tree.

“To avoid hitting him, I hit a tree. I hit a big fat tree and crushed my car, my wife’s car,” Baldwin said on Instagram.

Newsmax obtained dash cam footage from the truck that contradicts Alec Baldwin’s claims that a ‘truck bigger than a whale’ came out of nowhere.

The truck driver is seen making a legal turn onto the road when Baldwin appeared to try to pass him on the right side. Baldwin then swerved into the tree.

Baldwin was not cut off by the truck driver.

Newsmax reported:

Newsmax has obtained exclusive dashcam footage that appears to contradict Alec Baldwin’s account of how he and his brother Stephen Baldwin were involved in a car crash Monday afternoon.

The 1-minute, 29-second front-facing video, taken from the commercial truck Alec Baldwin claims cut him off, shows the truck making a legal right turn onto Montauk Highway in East Hampton, New York, before Alec Baldwin’s white Range Rover comes into view — and moments later, slams into a tree along the roadside.

The footage begins with the truck exiting a parking lot and making a routine right turn.

Roughly 30 seconds in, Alec Baldwin’s vehicle appears to attempt to pass the truck on the right, before veering onto the shoulder and striking a large tree head-on.

The video then captures the aftermath, including the Range Rover’s crumpled front end.

East Hampton Town Police Department Chief Michael D. Sarlo issued a statement to the Daily Mail:

At approximately 12:01pm on Monday, October 13th, the EHTPD responded to a motor vehicle accident on State Route 27, Pantigo Road near Cross Highway.

A white 2023 Range Rover, operated by Alec Baldwin, with passenger Stephen Baldwin, was found to have struck a tree on the Eastbound shoulder of the roadway while avoiding the turning action of a 2020 Mack commercial truck, registered to National Waste Services out of Bay Shore, NY.

There were no injuries reported or summons issued and the contributing factors to the accident were found to be a reaction to an uninvolved vehicle and the slippery and wet roadway conditions.
