Steve Bannon and Rep Eli Crane discussed the NGO National Endowment for Democracy and how they have been used to censor the MAGA movement. Rep Crane commented that he believed it “is a cutout for the CIA.” They also discussed the threat of AI impacting economics and morality.
“Are you concerned here at all that we may be summoning the demon?” Bannon asked regarding AI.
“I have many concerns about AI. You know, I think you could definitely view it as a technological Tower of Babel and all the things that could come with it. I’m also very worried about the economic ramifications,” Crane said.
“This is something that I think is, you know, pretty terrifying, and I don’t think that there’s a lot of good solutions out there,” Crane continued.
Bannon also discussed the National Endowment for Democracy with Rep Crane and the effort to defund them.
“Talk to us about this legislation. You are trying to put something forward that we can codify, getting rid of this, correct?” Bannon asked.
“That’s right, Steve. This is really reminiscent to me of last Congress when I tried to defund USAID,” Crane said.
Rep Crane told Bannon that he believed the National Endowment for Democracy had potential ties to the CIA as a “cutout.” He also explained that while certain institutions start out potentially good, they can be weaponized to work against its own citizens.
“This is another institution, nonprofit, that you know, I do believe is a cutout for the CIA. And I do believe it had a, you know, semi-virtuous origin when it was created to do, but like many of the agencies and institutions in Washington, especially over the last administration it’s been weaponized against the American people,” Crane said.
“You have all these Democrats running around saying that President Trump, the MAGA movement, the America first movement, we’re all a threat to Democracy. Therefore, they’ve used this agency to censor us, and become weaponized to try and stop this populist movement,” Crane explained.
“I want to make sure that we hold them accountable in the pocketbook,” Crane said.
