Volkswagen Group of America is recalling more than 40,000 Audi model cars due to a software error that may cause the instrument panel display to fail.
According to a notice first reported to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) on March 31, the recall covers 44,387 Audi 2021 vehicles.
Due to an aging flex-foil cable, a software error may appear in affected cars and cause the instrument panel display to fail, resulting in drivers losing access to important features like the speedometer, warning lights, speed and gear indicators, mileage, and more.
Audi had received 2,285 customer complaints about the issue as of March 24, but no injuries or crashes were reported.

What to do if you have a recalled car
Anyone who owns the models mentioned in the above recall can take their vehicles to a Volkswagen or Audi dealership for a free update to the instrument panel module software.
Owner notifications for all four recalls are expected to be mailed on May 30. Owners can also contact customer service at 1-800-253-2834 about recall number 90VC.
