Reports of gunshots stirred the East Campus neighborhood near the University of Oregon early April 19.
Officers with the Eugene Police Department responded to the dispute at the Student Manor apartments on the 1400 block of E. 18th Avenue, west of Agate Street, at 3:44 a.m.
The University of Oregon issued an alert at 4:11 a.m. urging community members to avoid the area.
According to police, the dispute involved two males who were reported to have left the location. Officers found one of them at E. 19th Avenue and Emerald Street, just south of the apartments. He had non-life-threatening injuries and was transported to a local hospital. According to UO Alerts, his injuries were due to “being hit in the head by a metal baton-like object.”
As of 11 a.m., police were still on the lookout for the other person involved. The suspect was described as a white male, bald, wearing all black, last seen running south on Agate Street.
An investigation was ongoing. Anyone with information was asked to call the EPD non-emergency line at 541-682-5111.
