When archery meets lunacy.
Usually, we are here to talk about knife violence epidemic plaguing Britain and Europe in general – but this time an even crazier story has arisen.
It turns out a 68-year-old British man has been arrested after allegedly firing a bow and arrow several times in a Huddersfield street, in West Yorkshire.
The man has been detained under the UK Mental Health Act.
Armed officers were deployed in response, but citizens restrained the man before police arrived.
The Telegram reported:
“Footage of the incident in Skelmanthorpe appeared to show a man standing by the roadside before drawing back the weapon and shooting several times.
West Yorkshire Police said officers were called shortly after 5.30pm on Tuesday following reports of a man acting erratically, including by throwing rubbish and household items out of a car while driving.”
When armed officers arrived at the scene, the man had already been restrained ‘by members of the public’.
“He was arrested on suspicion of possession of an offensive weapon in a public place at around 6pm and remains in custody.
Photographs from the scene and further footage showed an arrow embedded in the side of a white van and another lying on the ground..”

Police first receiving reports of a man acting erratically, ‘throwing rubbish and household items from a car while driving’.
GB News reported:
“Further calls were then received reporting that the man had got out of the vehicle and was firing a bow and arrow in the street and at passing vehicles.
[…] West Yorkshire Police said no one was injured, although a number of vehicles were damaged after being struck by arrows.
The man was initially taken into police custody before being detained under Section 136 of the Mental Health Act. He was taken to hospital for an assessment and has since been detained for mental health treatment.”
