UFC Vegas 106 Winners
Michael Morales: Michael Morales was 17-0 and a massive betting favorite when he walked to the Octagon for his matchup with veteran competitor and former welterweight title challenger Gilbert Burns. As soon as the fighters engaged, it was clear that Morales was the bigger man. However, Burns had a massive advantage in experience, making his pro debut when Morales was just 12 years old. Well, that experience did not help Burns as Morales’s size and power proved to be too much for Burns.
Morales looked calm and composed against Burns, and when he hurt his opponent with a right hook around Burns’s guard, he followed up with a flurry of punches that left the referee no choice but to wave things off before the four-minute mark of the first stanza.
Morales might only be 25, but he’ll join the UFC welterweight elite with his win over Burns.

Julian Erosa vs. Melquizael Costa: This was a fun back-and-forth battle. While it was not overly technical, the scrap between Julian Erosa and Melquizael Costa was the type of competition many MMA fans love to see. Costa got the best of the first half of the contest, using effective striking while never overextending himself against a game Erosa. However, the tide turned as the bout wore on, with Erosa showing his heart and toughness when he began to catch the slowing Costa as his opponent’s cardio began to fade. As for the judges, they gave the decision to Costa, who did enough through the first 10 minutes to get the nod. With his win at UFC Vegas 106, Costa moved to 3-0 under the UFC banner in 2025.

Gabe Green: Gabe Green found himself in a bad spot in the second round when Matheus Camilo had him in a tight triangle, but Green fought through the submission, popped his head out, and transitioned to a rear naked choke that ended the fight. Green was on a two-fight losing skid entering UFC Vegas 106. He had also not fought since May 2023 due to injuries. Saturday also marked the UFC lightweight debut for Green.

Jared Gordon: Jared Gordon made a nice return to action on Saturday, scoring a first-round knockout over Thiago Moises. Gordon, who last fought in June 2024 in a losing effort opposite Nasrat Haqparast (split decision), was booked to fight in February, but that fight fell apart on weigh-in day when his opponent Mashrabjon Ruzibaev failed to weigh in. Gordon dropped Moises with a well-timed and placed right hook and then finished things with ground strikes.
After the win, Gordon called for a fight against a ranked opponent.

Yadier del Valle: Yadier del Valle earned a UFC deal in October with a unanimous decision on a Dana White’s Contender Series fight card. In what was Del Valle’s UFC debut, the 28-year-old featherweight ran over Connor Matthews on Saturday. He systematically broke down his opponent on the way to the submission win.
With the win, Del Valle moves to 9-0 as a pro.

Luana Santos: Luana Santos had a successful debut at 135 pounds, picking up a submission win over Tainara Lisboa in the second round. Santos was coming off an August decision loss to Casey O’Neill at 125 pounds.
After the win, Santos told UFC commentator Michael Bisping she wanted at least one more fight at bantamweight before she decides if she will stay at 135 pounds.

Denise Gomes: Denise Gomes is on a three-fight winning streak thanks to her nasty second-round knockout win over Elise Reed. Reed’s striking guard was incredibly low, allowing Gomes to fire a straight right in the first round, leaving her opponent’s eye swelling as the two spent the rest of the round on the mat.
Gomes seemed to use that swollen eye as a target early in the second round, staggering Reed with a right hook before unloading a flurry of strikes that left Reed bloody and referee Jason Herzog no choice but to wave off the action.

HyunSung Park: HyunSung Park looked excellent at UFC Vegas 106, moving to 3-0 in the UFC’s flyweight division. Park used effective striking to hurt Carlos Hernandez against the fence. That striking made Hernandez move to the clinch, but Park showed his overall MMA ability in scoring a takedown, which led to a back take and a rear naked choke sub at 2:26 of Round 1. The 29-year-old Park looks ready for a test in his next outing as he has picked up three finishes in three UFC outings.

Tecia Pennington: Tecia Pennington has back-to-back wins for the first time since 2020-21 with her decision win over Luana Pinheiro in the first fight on the card.
Pennington used her speed, striking, and takedown defense to pick up the victory. What stood out in her performance on Saturday was her ability to dart in and out of striking range and score against the longer and taller Pinheiro.

UFC Vegas 106 Losers
Gilbert Burns: The UFC has used Gilbert Burns as a welterweight gatekeeper as of late. His past three losses have come to freshly crowned champion Jack Della Maddalena, Sean Brady and now Michael Morales. Prior to that, Burns dropped a decision to Belal Muhammad. I don’t believe Burns is “washed,” but his days as an elite UFC welterweight are behind him.
It’ll be interesting to see what the UFC does with the soon to be 39-year-old following UFC Vegas 106.
Matheus Camilo: Matheus Camilo had his moments in his UFC debut opposite Gabe Green, and he looked close to scoring a submission win, but he didn’t have much offer once Green worked through the triangle choke attempt.
The 24-year-old Camilo is still green, so no one should dismiss him following his loss to Green, it’ll be worth watching how he looks in his next UFC bout.
Elise Reed: Elise Reed’s weakness against Denise Gomes was her low striking guard. With her hands low, Gomes had no problem finding the mark and putting away Reed with ease.
Luana Pinheiro: Luana Pinheiro lost her fourth straight fight on Saturday. Pinheiro had a height and reach advantage over Tecia Pennington, but she did not use those attributes well, throwing wide hooks instead of fast, straight punches.

Burns (22-8) is the No. 8 competitor in the official UFC welterweight rankings. Burns had won six straight when he battled then-UFC welterweight champ Kamaru Usman in February 2021. Usman won that contest by TKO in the third round. Since that setback, the 38-year-old Burns has gone 3-4. He is riding a three-fight losing skid heading into UFC Vegas 106, falling to Belal Muhammad, Jack Della Maddalena, and Sean Brady in those contests.
Burns fell from No. 6 to No. 8 following his UFC Vegas 97 decision loss to Brady in September 2024.
Morales (17-0) joined the UFC in 2021 when he won a contract via a decision victory on a Dana White’s Contender Series fight card. Since then, Morales has gone 5-0 with the UFC with three knockouts and two decisions.
The 25-year-old Morales broke into the official UFC welterweight rankings in August when he earned a “Performance of the Night” bonus for his first-round knockout win over long-time UFC competitor Neil Magny.
The main event of UFC Vegas 106 is an excellent opportunity for the 38-year-old Burns to show that he remains an elite UFC welterweight. As for Morales, Saturday’s UFC Fight Night is his chance to show that he belongs among the top 10 of the 170-pound division.
UFC Vegas 106 Co-Main Event: Paul Craig Vs. Rodolfo Bellato
LAS VEGAS, NEVADA – MAY 16: (L-R) Opponents Rodolfo Bellato of Brazil and Paul Craig of Scotland … More
Paul Craig has been with the UFC since 2016. He enters his UFC Vegas 106 matchup against Rodolfo Bellato on the worst run of his professional career, going 1-5 since July 2022 and losing his past three outings. Craig knows Saturday’s fight could be his last under the UFC banner with a loss. As for Bellato, he is a relative newcomer to the UFC, joining the promotion via the Dana White’s Contender Series in 2023. He is 1-0-1 with the promotion and coming off a UFC 312 draw with Jimmy Crute.
UFC Vegas 106 results, reactions and more will be updated live throughout tonight’s fight card.
