Trump Says America Is at Crossroads of ‘Communism and Common Sense’ After Mamdani’s Win

President Donald Trump said Wednesday in Miami, Florida, that America is at a crossroads “between communism and common sense” after radical leftist Zohran Mamdani won the New York City mayoral race, which he said is a harbinger for what Congressional Democrats want to do to America.

Trump weighed in on Mamdani’s win and the choice now facing America during his remarks at the America Business Forum in the afternoon.

“After last night’s results, the decision facing all Americans could not be more clear. We have a choice between communism and common sense,” he said.

Mamdani bested former Gov. Andrew Cuomo (I-NY) and Republican Curtis Sliwa on his way to victory Tuesday in the Big Apple.

“And you know, you take a look, look back 1000 years, [communism] hasn’t worked. If it worked, we’d be using it, I guess. But it hasn’t worked. Our opponents are offering an economic nightmare. We’re delivering an economic miracle,” Trump said, touting the record rapid investment that has been pledged since he took office.

He has said that investment commitments will exceed $20 trillion by the end of his first full year in office.

“We want bigger paychecks for American workers and American families, and that’s what we’re delivering, you see that,” he said. “They stand for crime, and chaos, and corruption. We stand for law and order, and justice, also strong borders… They put America last. We put America first.”

Trump said the radical platform on which Mamdani was elected is the same agenda that Democrats in Congress, who have kept the government shut down for 36 days now, want to impose on the country.

“If you want to see what congressional Democrats wish to do to America, just look at the result of yesterday’s election in New York, where their party installed a communist as the mayor of the largest city in the nation,” he told those in attendance.

He also vowed that he would “stop” communism in America so long as he is in office, while also stating that Miami will be a haven to those fleeing communism in New York City.

“As long as I’m in the White House, the United States is not going communist in any way, shape, or form. We’ll stop it. We’re going to stop it, stop this nonsense,” Trump stated.
