US President Donald Trump has said that he will meet his Russian counterpart Vladimir Putin in Alaska next Friday.
Kremlin aide Yury Ushakov confirmed on Thursday that a bilateral meeting was to happen “in the coming days.”
“The highly anticipated meeting between myself, as President of the United States of America, and President Vladimir Putin, of Russia, will take place next Friday, August 15, 2025, in the Great State of Alaska,” Trump announced on Truth Social on Friday.
Ushakov confirmed immediately after that Moscow and Washington will be working on making the Alaska summit happen.
The upcoming meeting will revolve around reaching a longstanding peace in the Ukraine conflict, he added. Moscow expects that the two leaders’ next meeting after this will take place in Russia, the presidential aide said, according to TASS.
