It’s Friday at last, and the first full day of spring. We’re headed into our first weekend of spring now as well, and not a moment too soon! This was an odd winter, but not a bad winter. As someone who often suffers from seasonal depression, the rather sunnier, dryer and warmer winter we experienced was a blessing in disguise. I worry about the forests, but the forests of my mind are doing well. Huzzah!
It’s also 2XP Friday, so double your winnings and losses, dearest Wordlers. Let’s solve today’s Wordle!

Not my best guessing game today. I have no idea where CLEAT came from, as I’m not really one to include sports words in my guessing game, and I guess this is evidence why I should continue not doing so in the future. 435 words remained and just one yellow ‘E’. SHORE cut that number down to 23 (Michael Jordan’s number—uh oh here I go with the sports again!) and turned my yellow ‘E’ green. But I still had mostly grey boxes. My next guess ended up being lucky despite accidentally including the ‘R’ again. BRING only gave me two more yellow boxes, but it left me with just one possible solution: NUDGE for the win! Nudge nudge, wink wink.
Competitive Wordle Score
Today’s Bot
Screenshot: Erik KainI get 0 points for guessing in four and -1 for losing to the Bot. The Bot gets 1 point for guessing in three and another for beating me. That’s -2 for me thanks to 2XP Friday, and 4 points for the Bot, bringing our monthly totals much closer, though I remain a solid frontrunner.
My March Running Total: 17 points.
Wordle Bot’s Running Total: 8 points.
How To Play Competitive Wordle
- Guessing in 1 is worth 3 points; guessing in 2 is worth 2 points; guessing in 3 is worth 1 point; guessing in 4 is worth 0 points; guessing in 5 is -1 points; guessing in 6 is -2 points and missing the Wordle is -3 points.
- If you beat your opponent you get 1 point. If you tie, you get 0 points. And if you lose to your opponent, you get -1 point. Add it up to get your score. Keep a daily running score or just play for a new score each day.
- Fridays are 2XP, meaning you double your points—positive or negative.
- You can keep a running tally or just play day-by-day. Enjoy!
Today’s Wordle Etymology
The word “nudge” likely comes from the late 17th century, with uncertain origins. It is possibly related to the Scandinavian word “nugga” (Norwegian), meaning to push or poke gently, or from Middle English dialectal forms meaning to jostle or prod. The exact etymology is unclear, but it has always carried the sense of a gentle push or poke, both literal and figurative.
