Welcome back, dearest Wordlers, to your hip and swingin’ daily Wordle Guide! It’s Thor’s Day, which means we need to solve yesterday’s Wordle Wednesday puzzle before moving on to the Wordle itself.
This was the puzzle:
The Great Race of Eldoria
Four legendary creatures—a griffon, a wyvern, a centaur, and a dire wolf—set off from the enchanted city of Eldoria toward the distant Crystal Peak, each traveling at their own pace.
- The griffon flies at a speed of 60 miles per hour, but every 3 hours, it must rest for 1 hour.
- The wyvern flies at 80 miles per hour, but it tires quickly and needs to rest for 30 minutes every hour.
- The centaur gallops tirelessly at a steady 45 miles per hour.
- The dire wolf runs in bursts—60 miles per hour for 40 minutes, then it must slow to 20 miles per hour for the next 20 minutes before repeating the cycle.
If the Crystal Peak is exactly 240 miles away, in what order to the creatures arrive? The answer:
1st place Griffon, 2nd place Dire Wolf, 3rd place Centaur, 4th place Wyvern

Boy oh boy did I get lucky today! I picked TREAD because I didn’t want to start with an ‘S’ or a ‘C’ and settled on a ‘T’ word, and then just used the first one that came to mind that didn’t have a double ‘T’ (TREAT was my first instinct, but I swapped that to TREAD). Only 2 words remained: ALERT and AVERT and I chose the more likely of the two. Huzzah!

Today’s Wordle Etymology
The word “alert” comes from the Italian phrase “all’erta”, which means “on the lookout” or “on the watch.” “All’erta” is a contraction of “alla” (meaning “to” or “on”) and “erta” (meaning “height” or “elevated place”).
It originally referred to soldiers standing on high ground, staying vigilant for danger. The term entered English in the 16th–17th century, first as a military term, before evolving into its broader modern meanings related to awareness and readiness.
