It’s been well over a decade since the Beach Boys released what may very well be their final single. The band hasn’t scored a new smash in much, much longer, which is not odd for a group that’s been together as long as they have. While they may not be producing new work any longer, the pioneering pop outfit is performing well on the Billboard charts at the moment, and they even manage to reach a career high with one of their most celebrated tracks.
“Little Saint Nick” has become an annual hit for the Beach Boys in the past few years, as dedication to listening to anything and everything related to Christmas grows every season. The tune returns to a number of tallies every December, and it’s bigger than ever on one special list this frame.
The pop band’s holiday favorite returns to one musical ranking this frame, the Billboard Global Excl. US. On that tally, which ranks the most-consumed songs throughout the world—though listening in the U.S. isn’t taken into consideration—“Little Saint Nick” flies in at No. 69.
That position is a new peak for “Little Saint Nick,” but it’s so much more than that. The Beach Boys have never appeared so high on the Billboard Global Excl. US, a chart that was only established a few years ago, long after the band stopped releasing new music.
The Beach Boys have only scored a single win on the Billboard Global Excl. US, like so many other famous musical names from their era. Every season that “Little Saint Nick” climbs to a new peak, the group behind the tune does the same, as their fate is tied to its success.
“Little Saint Nick” simultaneously reaches a new top placement on the Hot 100 at the same time that it finds its way back to the Billboard Global Excl. US. The track lifts from No. 43 to No. 25 on the list of the most popular songs in America, and that now stands as the cut’s all-time best showing…though the pop-rockers have beaten that position in the past with a number of other songs.
The Beach Boys climb on two other Billboard tallies this week, as “Little Saint Nick” is a huge hit once more, though likely only for a few more days. The tune pushes 10 spaces to No. 23 on the Streaming Songs chart, and it’s up to No. 36 on the Billboard Global 200, where streams and sales from America do factor in. “Little Saint Nick” approaches its previously-set highs on both of those tallies, though it doesn’t quite match them this year.
