The man had barricaded himself inside a home, based on the TBI’s initial investigation. After a period of negotiation that lasted several hours, the man exited the home and fired a handgun at deputies who returned fire based on the TBI’s initial report. No deputies were injured, the TBI reported.
It was not immediately known how many shots were fired in the exchange.
TBI special agents were asked to investigate the shooting at the request of Jason Lawson, the 15th Judicial District Attorney General.
It is standard procedure for the D.A.’s office to request a TBI investigation after a shooting that involves a law enforcement officer, Lawson said.
