The premiere of Suits LA comes six years after the original Suits series wrapped on USA Network in 2019. The spinoff, led by Suits creator Aaron Korsh, was ordered after the series experienced a surge in popularity on Netflix, shattering streaming records with 57.7 billion minutes watched in 2023.
Suits LA takes place in the same timeline as Suits but follows a new group of powerhouse lawyers at a Los Angeles law firm. Stephen Amell (Arrow) stars as Ted Black, a former federal prosecutor who relocates to the West Coast after leaving New York. Joining Amell in the Suits LA cast are Lex Scott Davis, Josh McDermitt, and Bryan Greenberg as series regulars. Recurring cast members include Victoria Justice, Troy Winbush, Alice Lee and more.
“(Ted’s) firm is at a crisis point, and in order to survive he must embrace a role he held in contempt his entire career. Ted is surrounded by a stellar group of characters who test their loyalties to both Ted and each other while they can’t help but mix their personal and professional lives. All of this is going on while events from years ago slowly unravel that led Ted to leave behind everything and everyone he loved,” the logline reads.
Black is an old friend of Harvey Specter (Gabriel Macht) from their days at the DA’s office in New York. NBC has confirmed that Macht will appear in the spinoff to pass the baton to Amell, though it’s unclear which episodes he’ll be featured in. In the official trailer, Ted and his old friend Kevin (Troy Winbush) reference Harvey, with Kevin calling him “the only person I know cockier than” Ted. There’s also a strong chance that other original Suits characters could make guest appearances throughout the season.
