The White Lotus
The White Lotus season 3 will air its finale tonight in a 90 minute episode that will be the longest of the series, and practically a movie by itself. It feels like there are almost too many plotlines to wrap up here, and apparently the ending of the show has been kept so guarded that Mike White actually wrote six different endings to fake people out with incorrect versions if anything leaked. So far as I can tell, nothing has.
Well, let’s make some predictions anyway, shall we?
Mook Is Not Bad – There is a long-running theory that Mook is in on the robbery with the Russians, but I just don’t think that’s true. What would that reveal even accomplish? I don’t think it would help her character either way, as she has just been stuck in this silo with Gaitok interacting with none of the other main characters for more than 30 seconds or so in total. It does feel like she was cast because of Lisa’s out-of-series popularity, which is a shame, as she should have been given more to do.
The Shootout is More Than One Shootout – My guess here is that this is going to be two different plotlines colliding. One is Gaitok finally getting up the nerve to stop the Russian criminals in something like an “arrest” that goes wrong, and him getting the “killer instinct” to actually fire the gun, maybe if Mook is threatened. The second is, I believe, going to involve Rick returning to Chelsea after threatening his father’s alleged murder who has in fact been something of a criminal warlord in the past. They know where he’s going, and Sritala’s armed bodyguards have been looming this entire season. My guess for who dies is Rick and then some of the criminals or bodyguards. If it’s Chelsea we riot, though I guess that would teach Rick a lesson about seeking revenge.

They’re Doing The Darth Vader Thing – I do think they’ll do the reveal that Jim Hollinger really is Rick’s father, as that confrontation scene was set up so weirdly that I don’t see any other explanation for how that went. Despite this, I still think a pursuit of Rick is going to take place, even if maybe that’s just from Sritala alone.
The Ratliff’s Stay In Thailand – No, I do not think this is going to end with the Timothy Ratliff murder-suicide he keeps fantasizing about. Plus he doesn’t even have a gun now. This seems like a pretty obvious conclusion given that A) Piper wants to stay, B) Lochlan wants to stay, C) Timothy seems very into these new Buddhist teachings, plus there’s the obvious fact that has been built up this whole season, that Thailand is a place for rich white guys to hide, and hide their money. That leaves Saxon, though without his job, he’s “nothing,” so he might as well stay. Victoria is probably the one character who would lose their mind. But seriously, what motivation would Timothy possibly have to actually return to the States right now when he’s an entire ocean away?
The White Lotus
Nothing Happens with the Girls – Nothing major at least. Their friendship is likely broken after this, but even with their involvement with the criminals, I doubt they’re going to be a major part of whatever shooting happens.
Greg And Belinda – I don’t know about this one. One could kill the other (Belinda would probably do so accidentally, somehow), but this is part of the larger criminal conspiracy that The White Lotus keeps hinting at but never explaining. And even after this season, while we know Greg is hiding out after his wife’s murder, and he knew those murderers from season 2, I don’t think we’re any closer to figuring out what’s actually going on there, and this story will continue into season 4, with or without either character.
That’s what I got, and I could be 100% wrong. What do you think?
