2024 is shaping up to be a very big—and busy—year for Shakira. The Latin superstar returned with a new album this spring, and just a few months later, she’s already moving on to her next chapter.
Shakira’s new single “Soltera” reaches half a dozen Billboard charts this week. It debuts on five of them, but on the sixth and final tally, the tune ascends after earning a lofty early entry.
“Soltera” shoots from No. 3 to No. 1 on the Latin Digital Song Sales chart. The cut debuted in third place last frame, but now that the title has enjoyed more time in which to sell, and fans seem to be enjoying it, the smash has become another leader for the singer.
Shakira released “Soltera” on Wednesday, September 25. The song only had about two days in which to rack up streams and sales, which sent it to the Billboard charts. The cut managed to sell well enough in that short span of time to land at No. 3 on the Latin-only purchase tally, but now that a full frame has passed, it’s risen as high as it possibly can.
Throughout her career, Shakira has collected 18 No. 1 singles on the Latin Digital Song Sales chart. “Soltera” marks her thirty-third top 10 on the list of the bestselling Latin tracks in the nation.
Shakira has earned four new top 10 hits on the Latin sales list in 2024 alone. Half of those have climbed to No. 1, including “Soltera.” The Grammy winner first landed ahead of all other tracks in April, with “Punteria,” which benefited from a feature by Cardi B.
“Soltera” is, for the moment, a standalone single, though it will soon be included on…something Shakira is working on. Just months after she delivered her latest album, Las Mujeres Ya No Lloran, she’s hard at work on what she calls a new “project,” though so far, not much is known about whatever she’s cooking up in the studio.
As it hits No. 1 on the sales chart, “Soltera” also debuts on five other Billboard charts. The tune reaches the Hot Latin Songs (No. 13) and Latin Streaming Songs (No. 24) tallies, as well as the company’s two global rankings.
