Novelist, Hollywood producer, and unabashed Republican critic Stephen King has been upbraided for a social media post alleging Charlie Kirk “advocated stoning gays to death.”

The response to his unsupported assertion on X – formerly known as Twitter – was quick and to the point, with Senator Mike Lee (R-UT) leading the way, saying “Please share if you agree that the estate of Charlie Kirk should sue Stephen King for defamation over this heinously false accusation He’s crossed a line It will prove costly.”

Senator Ted Cruz (R-TX) also added his voice of disgust at King’s ugly, spiteful claim, calling the author a “horrible, evil, twisted liar” while rejecting the claim Kirk ever advocated the stoning of anybody.

As Breitbart News reported, Charlie Kirk was shot in his neck and killed while at an event at Utah Valley University on Wednesday.

President Donald Trump has since ordered all U.S. flags to be flown at half-mast until 6:00 p.m. on Sunday in honor of Kirk, who he described as a “Great American Patriot” while vowing to seek justice for the loss of the free speech crusader and father of two.

The assassin is still at large and remains unidentified.
