A Sacramento gay bar has banned anyone from wearing Make America Great Again gear on its premises.

Badlands owner TJ Bruce announced the policy on Instagram this week, explaining that a guest wearing MAGA attire had created a feeling of “discomfort” among patrons.

His post stated:

At Badlands Sacramento, we are committed to creating a space where the LGBTQ+ community and our allies feel safe, welcomed, and respected.

Recently, a guest entered the bar wearing MAGA attire, which led to discomfort among some patrons.

In response, we initially decided to ban all political attire to avoid further issues.

However, after careful consideration, we’ve realized that a blanket ban is not the right approach.

Moving forward, MAGA-related attire will not be allowed in the venue.

This decision is not about banning political beliefs—it is about ensuring that Badlands remains a space where our community feels comfortable and supported.

We appreciate everyone’s understanding and respect as we continue to maintain the environment that makes Badlands a place for all to enjoy.

The customer in question, Steven Bourasa, told local media that he had not been asked to leave and did not think there was any issue.

I’ve never worn a red Trump hat to the gay bars before. I said, What the heck? Let’s see what happens.

We were having drinks and hanging out, and it was a pleasant time. So I was really impressed. And I complimented security on the good job they did.

That came as a surprise to me because the night out was, you know, it didn’t have any problems.

Preston Romero of the Log Cabin Republicans of Sacramento, an organization that represents LGBT Republicans, denounced the decision.

“This decision is not based upon protecting our community,” he said.

”It’s about bullying and singling out one particular political ideology. And we believe that that’s unfair.”

While unjustified, such instances of political discrimination are common among the liberal-owned businesses and organizations, many of whom would prefer to exclude Trump supporters rather than take their money.

Earlier this month, a Minnesota pizza chain kicked out a group of Republicans and Trump supporters enjoying some food after a local conference.

The company later apologized for their actions of a supposedly rogue employee.
